This isn't the same turbo but it's a decent thread about one...

Just finished install on a TD05H 18g.
I have a thread of other parts going on it like new Five-O motorsports Black-ops top-feed injectors, and a couple other things.
Check it out and help me get this thing running so I can test it out!

I did a good bit of research on it and learned a lot about these cheap ebay turbos.
This turbo is exactly the same as 18g turbos from Arashi, Tomioka, and Kinaguwa.

This dyno chart for WRX it says, also link to turbo. Legacy GT Dyno video link below

If you want affordable and want to buy something on eBay, you go Kinugawa. That's basically the only good option you have that will give you a reliable, well built product at a good price. Otherwise, just hop on over to the For Sale section and grab someone's used, namebrand VF, 16/18/20G, or whatever.

Cheap eBay turbos are cheap for a reason.

The CXRacing and Arashi turbos are built using exactly the same hot and cold side parts.
The inside may be a different story, but looks like the turbines are the same also, except the higher number blade ones, and the billet ones.
Don't know about the journal bearing they are using at all though.
The last, and most important part is how these are balanced after being put together.
There definitely are lots of other NO-name turbos on ebay at 225-400.
These go for between 600 and 1000.
These are the absolute bottom line cheapest I would consider for Ebay Turbo upgrades, and the one 16g that is 350 or so from CXRacing may not quite deliver the same power as stock, but there's no reason why it would fail if it is balanced on the same machines used to balance the others. The only thing is it is sold under a different name than CXRacing on ebay, but it is obviously them when you look.
These particular ones listed are all made of the same pieces sourced out of chinese factories somewhere I believe.
I will post results from mine after I get it running right.

I am OS tuning mine for a TD05 18g from CXRacing now.
It's running good so far.
I have a thread on it and other supporting mods under tuning and management DIY in the title.

i don't know about this exact turbo, but guys on "sloppy mechanics" Facebook page have been using on3 and cx racing turbos. the real generic t3/t4 70-80mm turbos. Some of them have made well over 600hp with out issue, they aren't daily drivers, but when they do drive them, they beat the crap out of the engines. So not ALL the turbos are junk

I will put up pix tomorrow of my cx racing 16g turbo. It was the biggest waste of money. It worked fine for two days then the bearings went. When I pulled the turbo it looked like it was extremely old and seen a lot of heat. It looked worse than my stock td04 with 100k miles on it. So I bought a fp green turbo and it seems to be running good. I have a cx racing tmic and it seems fine.

ebay TMICs from what I have heard and even seen are surprisingly pretty good.

i bought one of these turbos a few months back. After the poor fitment of the compressor housing and wastegate actuator hitting the intake manifold, the nut holding the impeller was never tightened and i never thought twice about checking it and bang took a **** in less then 10 miles.. this too was a 16g

i wouldnt really consider an ebay turbo, it is a brand name. just not a very well known one. they have their own racing team according to their page, so i cant be that bad right? im looking at buying one

i been using one of those cxracing big 16g's for a few months now. im also on e85. seems to be holding up pretty good at 22psi. ive had the inlet pipe and exhaust off a few times since the turbo install and have been able to somewhat check shaft play on it. there does not appear to be any unusual play in it. thing pulls like a beast. only issue i had fittment wise was that the return coolant line was not bent properly and had some clearance issues. nothing a hammer couldnt fix though. lol
