I just installed mine on my 04 sedan with ALK. Took maybe 20 minutes. Helps that I have a lift and a good impact driver. Maybe its psychological, but it does seem to tie the front of the car together. Hell, for $11.90 I had nothing to lose. Of course the shipping was $16, but still ,only $28 total for an easy install.

they also sell a set (front and back) strut bars for about 38.00+ shipping. I bought them, and the install took about an hour, had a small issue with the rear brace lol. But this is an awesome kit, its all aluminum, and welded nicely. I'd recommend these to anyone.

i bought one of these a few weeks ago and tired to install it. There was a slight fitment problem that led to crossthreading of the 40 ft lb bolt in front. Yeah it was a bit** to take off the cross threaded bolt, but i'm going to enlarge the H brace holes slightly and try again next week.

I want to know the answer to this.

I have a whiteline ALK, and when tightening the h brace back down after install i broke the rear welds on the h brace. For the record the torque wrench had not clicked at the 184 ft-lb mark, beacuse the brace broke BEFORE it reached proper torque spec. I was tired for one day and just let it be, but this was a mistake. From day to day my suspension started making mroe and more noise. I figured it was the brace being broke so i decided to replace it. SO i bought another one, this time the SPT one, instead of the crappy ebay one on there before.

SO here i am trying to install the SPT h brace on my wrx w/ Whiteline ALK. Tons of people say they fit but IT CLEARLY DOES NOT FIT. u have to be frigging retarded to say that it does... If you line up the brace flush with the front 2 holes/bolts (subframe holes), you will notice the rear 2 holes/bolts (control arm bracket holes) are about A GOOD INCH SHORT of lining up flush. This is due to the "dropping of the subframe about an inch, beacuse of the provided spacers with the ALK install. SO...what to do?

Well i decided that spacers would require a longer bolts and i had neither of these, so i thought i would try and just bolt it up anyway, stretching the brace to make it fit. I decided since i broke the last brace by doing the fornt 2 bolts first(subframe), i decided to start at the rear(control arm) and bolt the rear 2 first, then get the front two. I ended up tightening the rear two bolts as much as i possibly could with a breaker bar (still prob not the 184 ft-lb req) and the brace was deformed to the point that it was now almost flush with the mounts, BUT THE MOUNTS HAD A GAP BETWEEN THE MOUNTS AND THE CHASSIS. I bolted everything tight as i could get it w/ front two bolts torqued to spec, and went for a drive. So far so good, but a few days later, well...the creaking and noise of stressed and deformed metallic sounds came back. *Sigh*

1 week after driving the suspension is starting to squeak i directly beleive this is responsible for the poor h brace fitment with ALK.

I have searched everywhere for answers to this prob only to find NOTHING. Why do people say that this brace fits when it does NOT. other people say spacers are required, but noone has any pictures to confirm this, or show the method that they found succesfull.

I really do not want to give up this brace because i have an ALK. How can i make it fit will someone please help?

I've had mine for over 3k miles. Drove it back from Va. Beach to Jacksonville and back and had no issues. No squeaking or any noises. Ensure to retigten bolts after 100 mile (just to make sure you don't have any loose bolts). I had some issues fitting the ebay h-brace because one of the holes was off by a 1 or 2 mm. All it took was some muscle and ensureing that all the holes line up and the bolts were fitted before tightning all the bolts. Also, I didn't have to redrill any holes. I guess it just depends on the brace you get. Not all h-braces comes perfect. I don't have ALK so I don't know if it works well with it or not.

Overall, I was happy with the item. Welds were good, not too much of an issue installing it, cheap and there's a noticeable difference when you steer the car. It feels more planted.

I just received the h-brace along with the front and rear strut braces for a total of around $75 shipped. The front and rear bars are installed and I'm waiting on a lift to throw the h-brace on along with a couple other things I have sitting around. The quality of all the parts was pretty decent for what I paid.
