Outrageous factory pricing for rotors and pads really kills this upgrade with factory components.

I know that KNS is now selling front rotors and pads though which should be considerably cheaper than the subaru versions.

The calipers (fronts at least) are still about $900 each last I checked though.

The KNS is definitely a competitive choice when it comes to upgrading the stock WRX brakes - the four pot front caliper is a really nice design. I'm already using the DBA rotors

One thing to note is that the KNS Big Brake AP Racing kit is listed for track use only - not for street use.

This is a really cool set up, I hope to do something similar to my 09 STI HB. tossing up if i do this or go aftermarket like Alcon or AP Racing.

Whatever set up you choose, make sure that it is for street as well as track if that is your interest. I looked at AP Racing but the setups I was looking at were track-only which eliminates some of the seals helpful for street driving.

Hard to beat the '18 STI Brembo's for visual appeal, too. I actually had a Dodge Challenger driver come over to me and comment on how cool the calipers looked. Better yet, had to slam on the brakes this morning when someone late to her yoga session threw open her car door just as I was passing, and stopped on a dime. I think the irony is lost on her that she's rushing to a yoga session...

But if I order the parts ahead of time on the website and select "local pick-up" (so shipping goes to $0), the pricing is significantly better - varies depending on the part in question, but I've seen as much as 30-35% off MSRP. Not saying it would've gotten you as big a discount as Mach V was able to get, but something to keep in mind when you want to order other OEM parts in the future.

Good info, thanks, Dan!

Not sure how I stumbled upon this but thank you! I live in VA and anytime I would have to order stuff would always be pissed seeing the flat shipping fee of $$ whatever. Never knew you could pick up and save that. Tyson's is 30 minutes away. Is stohlmans the only dealer that can order stuff and then you uncheck the shipping/pick up local option?

I think pretty much all of the Subaru dealers do this, but best to call the parts department and check.
