Default 11.4 non intercooled on low boost

EDIT: See page 3 for new update.

We're still breaking in our STi engine but I ran a couple passes for fun last night on low boost with no intercooler to get a baseline while I'm waiting for the rings to finish seating. I wasn't going to post a time until we run the full setup, but I thought some people might be surprised we ran this non intercooled.

96 Impreza with US STi engine/tranny and UR GT35R kit.
No intercooler. Running E85 in the tank and 50/50 water/meth injection.

I put a safe tune on while driving there so I didn't have to watch anything but the track. I just drove it there, ran it, and drove home the way it sat.

pass 1) 12.6 at 116 with no launch shifting like a grandma to get a feel for it
pass 2) 12.3 at 118 bogging and banging limiter in 1st and 2nd
pass 3) 11.4 at 121. I had a decent pass without flat shifting.

It's amazing to see difference in not just ET but trap speed just in driving with no changes to the car. I know there were at least a few more easy tenths in it just driving it better since I haven't dragged a car in a few years and I have to get used to this thing, especially the 4 -> 5 shift on the 6 speed. I called it a night because we're going to intercool it and crank the boost in a week or so anyways.

Since I know someone is going to ask...low boost is about 22 psi on the wastegate springs. Up top it saw 23 psi.

I'd like to thank my crew at Innovative Tuning who built the car from stock with me this summer and without whom this wouldn't be possible. I'm having a lot of fun with it even when I'm just cruising around town.

I'd also like to thank:
Ultimate Racing
Technafit
Coolingmist
Autronic
Enzo Racing
Spiider (DCCD interface)
Toad Studio
for all their support.

You tell me. I do traveling tuning all the time.

Here's the corn burner...

The front end looks bone stock since there's no intercooler at the moment.

We didn't bring any tools, cameras, or anything since this was just a baseline, but here's the slip. The car in the other lane was a Mustang 5.0 with the license plate "BRING IT". I guess we had to bring it for him...

E85?! How yo configure it to run on E85? At least run and put up those numbers? Though I guess the 22psi of boost does help.

Hooray for corn hippy fuel!

That car is begging for a stealth Air/Water setup. A front mount would be criminal at this point.

Nice work. Good to see some guys are still having fun with their GC/GM toys.

That is the reason I love cages...

You can put a change in a stock 92 Sentra and people would be like "What the **** does that thing have done to it?"

ahahah

This car is a beast.

At this point the fuel is too much of a PITA to get for that. I'll probably stop running it and go back to gas in the next few days because I can't deal with a 3 hour round trip during which I use almost all the gas just making the trip. They won't fill containers...

I filled the tank and added 25***37; to my fuel scaler on the first tank which brought my af's back where they should be and drove off with no other changes. By the third tank the scaler was up to 30% since the small amount of straight gas that was in from before had been worked out. It's a straight across the board change which is not affected by load so you can change your fueling for it in a matter of a few seconds.

Joe I'd love to but I have cars scheduled for tuning at my shop the 15th. I will probably go to the CSCS event the 16th though...

I have no ask, how safe is it to run no IC and E85/meth on a street car? Say a 20G or RR500 turbo? A quality meth kit is much cheaper than a quality FMIC or TMIC, especially for the LegacyGTs. No core pressure loss, quicker response and less clutter under the hood would be nice as well.

Just an idea.

I ran no IC with the water/meth kit all last year on pump gas. With E85 it's even safer. I ran it on a VF39 (22psi), then a Green (26 psi), then the GT35R (33psi) in my daily driver legacy SS on stock engine (190,000 miles on it). I had to run 39.5 psi to kill it earlier this year. The people installing and tuning the meth kit just better know what they're doing.

Front mount is on. The only thing criminal about it is my bumper trimming. My head mechanic wouldn't even do it because he could tell there would be nothing left so I hacked it up myself.
