Default 03 Vs 04 WRX ECU/Engine Harness Compatibility

Hey guys, I've been looking around and I keep finding conflicting information on this topic and can't find a definite answer.

What I've found is the 04+ ecu has some sort of 2 second delay and is in a open/closed loop in regards to fueling which can cause issues without tuning. Is this a concern if I already have an access port with the cobb ots tune or is this not a solution? I know the 04 is a 16bit ecu vs the sti which a 32bit but I feel as though that info isn't going to help me.

I guess I should first start off with what I'm doing. My buddy blew up his engine in his 04 and sold me the car for cheap. My 03 is about to crumble into a pile of rust soon so my plan is to toss my engine in the 04 body and call it a day.

Both the engine harnesses and the ecus have different part #'s so it definitely seems as though they aren't identical. From what I've found, people have done something similar and it worked however that doesn't give me the confidence I'm looking for. I looked more into it & it seems like the only difference between the two harnesses is the 04 has a PCV diagnosis connector.

Does anyone have some information on this? Will I be fine with installing my 03 engine with its harness into the 04 ecu? Or do I have to put my 03 ecu into the 04 we should be good?

Thanks in advance.

The more I think about it, the only issues I can see if I don't change over ECU's is that it will be looking for data from that pcv connector that is not there and/or I wont even be able to plug my 03 harness in because of the extra pin.

Apparently this pcv connectors purpose is to simply detect blow-by.
