Default Close call on HWY with Brick and the Sti, Very Lucky :updated:

Orig Post:
Was on my way to drop off my 6 month old before going to work. came around biz 40 near baptist and see a shaddow coming over the hood. Just then i hear a crash and there is glass every where. pull of the road and check my daughter, she didnt even wake up. get out and look. somthing came in the front window, passed though the car, out the back window and hit the rear spoiler. i was going 55mph at the time. looks like it must have been a brick. no idea where it came from.

Front

Inside, V1 flew off the front window

Rear window exit

rear spoiler

both ok, just got one small cut on my finger from flying glass. car is at the body shop for the rear spoiler and glass scratches.

Frank

Update:
car is at the body shop. should be done friday maybe monday.
here are the two update photos

Ins adj noticed some "odd" chips on the front. so they are covering to have some extra paint work done.

and... why might the wing be off. well ill give ya a clue, its not goin back on. rather than fix it, we are gonna fix the holes the wing left behind

glass should be in tomorrow, and they already took out the seats and most of the interior to clean out the glass.
more pics when its done

Thats pretty crazy that the brick managed to go through both windows in around the same spot (horizontally).

Thats crazy. I just dont get how the brick flew all the way through the car! You think it would just crash through your window and then land on the passanger seat or the floor.

Wow. After that, if I were you, I'd go play with kites in lightning storms, slit my wrists and dive with great whites, then write a book.
Glad your both OK, I'm guessing your 6 month was directly behind you?
And great call on going wingless, you'll be able to see out your rear view mirror now, just incase your doing 55 in reverse and this happens again.

Jeebus!

Glad to hear you and your little girl are ok.

Any developments with finding out how it happened? As the others asked, were you near an overpass when it happened?

BTW, just be really carefull with the interior...even when cleaned, those little pieces of glass happen to stay everywhere for some reason.

I can't even find the words to express how unbelievable this is. For a brick (or something like it) to come through the windscreen, completely avoid the seats and passengers, and then exit the rear merely 6" below the horizontal impact plane.....absolutely amazing. Makes me really wonder about the direction that the brick was moving when it met your car.

Glad you both made it out unscathed!
