And no, sorry, the 135is starts at $43k...way to tack on $6k in options. If you want a $43k 135is, you can order one. No one is forcing you to buy what's on the dealer lot.

BTW, BMWs "leatherette" is better than many companies' leather. Sports package, with or without leather, is all you need in that car (has a sunroof standard, etc.).

I'm not sure what "reasonably equipped" means to you. What options do you need over the sports package/leather in your 2+2 sports coupe?

Again, I was responding to a post about starting prices. But beyond that, I sort of take issue with people saying the cars cost so much more than that, because dealers like to stock highly-optioned cars. If you're spending $40k on a car, surely you can wait a month or two for the car you want.
I translated the starting price from £ to $ using the current pricing, but forgot about the VAT.

Still, my point was that I highly doubt these two cars would be the same price, starting or otherwise, in the US.

I'd agree. But maybe you could justify an extra, say, $5k. That's at least easier to do than an extra $10k...

Which I agree would be hard to swallow.

They wouldn't be far apart.

UK prices:
M135i (3 door) - £30k
328i - £29.4k
135i Coupe - £32.5k

US prices:
328i - $36.5k
135i Coupe - $39.3k

Basically this would be in the $37k range if they sold it in the US, while the STi starts at $34k, or $36k for the hatch.

FYI, the great engine noise of the M135i that Chris Harris raves about is apparently also coming from the speakers via Active Sound of whatever they call the fake engine noise maker. What a bummer.
