Default New Intake designs- EZ30R ITB project

I finally spent sometime this weekend doing some machining for a new project i will be working on over the next few months. I figure some nice Individual throttle bodies for my ez30 will be a fun project that isn't as involved as some of my other ideas. These photos are of the adapters needed to fit the ITB's from the triumph speed triple motorcycle.

Well, I am a bit lucky I have 24/7 access to a cnc miling machine so the cost was about 24 hrs of machining time.

Wanna make me a set. I'v been wanting to make my own intake for so long, but I am limited by tools and the stupid odd sized oval inlet shape.

Very nice work!

Well it would take quite a bit of convincing lol... but of course if you are patient this first set is really only meant for a test set using cheap of the shelf throttle bodies. I would like to do a full custom set that bolt directly to the head with no adapter, it is just a bit more involved machining wise

Oh slow, have not made any more progress on that since school takes over my life during the fall and spring. I need to get data logs going on the edu so can figure out what to change when i swap to the ITB throttles. Otherwise a few other projects the involve brakes, and wheels I will snap some pics and post up what i have been up to

Updates?

About 99.9% sure I saw you buzzing by around 9th & Connecticut a few weeks ago. Your exhaust is REALLY hard to miss. lol... Also, I was getting parts for my engine swap around the same time, and some kid that works at O'reilly Auto Parts said he got smoked by your car. He swears you had a big turbo on your car. Said he could hear it spooling up. I politely told him it was an NA H6 swap. He didn't believe me. I don't think the kid has any idea what a turbo sounds like...

You ever get dyno'd? Even Airboy would be interesting.

Not much progress on the car since summer, but it is still running real good, I might see about getting a baseline dyne run in before school starts up again in a few weeks.

Other wise I have been slowly making progress on a few parts, remeber that picture of the ATS DTM center lock wheels well here are some photos of various parts needed to convert the stock sit hubs to run centerlock wheels

Pressure disks, centering cones, and a prototype center bolt.

Close up view of center bolt and underneath of centering cone showing the pockets for preventing the bolt from backing off.

Modified hub, I cut a "castle" pattern into the hub register so the centering cone can lock into the hub and prevent the bolt from backing off.

assembled parts ready for wheel, the lock ring prevents the centering cone from moving away from the hub.

18x10 ATS DTM centerlock wheel

So nearly done with all the parts. I still have to machine the actual adapter bolts the one in the pictures is a prototype aluminum, the real ones will be 6al-4v titanium. Once i get those done it will be a matter of getting tires and making my fenders wider

Default Stay tuned for some coming summer attractions... Wide track forester

This is a modified front hub, I machined the castle pattern into the hub register

Here is the new titanium axle nut adapter

with the new hardcoat aluminum locking hub register, with a retaining clip this piece both centers the rim as well as prevents the new bolt from backing off.

Complete assembly with pressure washer and nut to hold the wheel on to the hub... there will also be a safety pin to prevent the nut from backing off.

Lots of room for brake calipers inside these wheels

Now need to widen the fender 2.5"

That's some damn impressive fab work on the center locking wheel adapters!

So the female end of the center bolt takes the place of the axle nut, and then you threaded the male end of the center bolt to use an axle nut?

I am still saving money for the 6 speed swap, its the one thing that i have to actually pay for, otherwise all the custom machine work I do myself so it just takes my time, and sometimes alot of it... and Patrick you are correct in how the center bolt works.

Soooo... What's the advantage if the hub conversion? Using track setup single bolt style for coolness or something specific? Weight?
When I was looking at the early posts when you started it I was presuming some weird conversion like 4x4 locking hubs but that only works with solid axles to the best of my knowledge.

And yeah 6speeds can get pricey. It was one of the first things on my list when I took my car off the road. Got it out of the way in place of putting the money and having a running car until the whole car was done. Still love that you sorted a way to run factory ECU, even if it's not a US ECU.

i'm interested to hear about matching your wiring to the rear section of your car. is the donor engine/harness a different year to the recipient?

the information i have is that if the years are the same, the rearmost sections are all the same too.

Most everything in the rear is just a matter of applying power. Only concern there I would see would be fuel pump assembly since the Legacy is different from the rest of us.
