CEL with TurboXS stage 2
Hello all,
I have the TurboXS stage 2 plus a CAI and an aftermarket muffler. I recently have been getting CEL about every other week. They last about 1 day and go away. Well, I got one yesterday and decided to take it to the dealership to see what the code was. The informed me it would be a $56 charge if it was a code related to the exhaust or intake. Knowing that it most likely was, I declined. So, now I ask the club what is a good, less expensive way to pull the code to verfiy it is harmless or if it is something more serious? I am in the Phoenix area. Thanks in advance for any insight

go to autozone and they will pull the code for free, im guessing that most likely it will be a P0420

Yeah. . it's most likely a CAT inefficiency code. If it is, you can just pick up an MIL eliminator for $20 to get rid of it.

I wanna play "Guess my trouble code" too. I pick P030x, where x is a cylinder number.

I had one on my Stage 2 also. It was a cat efficiency code. Apparently it only happens during casual cruising speeds when your exhaust gasses are cooling off a bit too much because the downpipe is so large. When the cooler gas reaches the last cat it will throw a CEL. Just vary your speed every once in a while and it won't come back. Or wrap your downpipe to contain some of that heat.

I agree with that
That sounds most likely as it does only happen at cruising speed when I am hardly into the throttle. Hardly pressing the gas pedle and wham, a CEL. Then later, it disappears. I did not know that Autozone would pull it for free, that sounds great. I will give them a call and see if they are able to do it and post the code later, thanks for the advice. I wonder who will be closest?

Found it
Well, I finally pulled the code, it was a P0140 (I think, now forget), but the wording was low cat efficiency .... So that raises a new question: Why would the Stage 2 kit run well for 6 months and never have a CEL, then suddenly start throwing them? I am getting one about every other day. Also, they use an OBD II scan tool at Autozone that they sell for 149. They said they used to be 49. Does anyone know where to buy a tool like that? I would rather spend 49 than 149 and also rather have the tool than deal with the eliminator and install of that.

FWIW, my stage 2 did the same thing. I had it for a few months with no CEL's then started to get them regularly. I assume it has to do with the ECU continuing to learn different little things, but I got the MIL eliminator and haven't seen one in about 3 months. Well worth the $21 and it is REALLY easy to install.
