lol everything looks gold when its covered in brown oil, regardless there shouldnt be anything in the oil period. These jdm shops in our area have no idea what they buy/sell, people fill containers for the overseas and they pay a flat fee, i can almost guarantee the price of this motor paid for the container it was shipped in, they dont care about their products.

Silicon, Iron, Aluminum, Lead, Chromium, Silver & Tin... none of these are gold colored.

Copper is bearing wear sadly but good to hear you are getting a refund.

i suggest you contact JDM Racing Motors / J-Spec Auto (its the same company; 2 locations) they are by far the most reputable importers of subaru parts.
I have been talking to Wali at JDM Racing Motors about an engine and I am most likely purchasing it from them.

This is all true, but that's how I get parts dirt cheap also.

And many times you get exactly what you pay for, and then pay again

That's true too. I have never had an issue from this importer until the engine. I purchased my entire 6 speed swap from them and it's great. I guess it was only a matter of time until they messed something up. On another note I'm itching for the new engine

+1 on JDM racing - my v7 was in great shape and the black stone oil sample from my first change was A+.

I returned the engine and got my money back. I am very happy they gave me a full refund.

What are the benefits of going V9 over a V8 engine? Also can I use a V7 or V8 ECU with a V9 engine since the V9 is immobilized? I am really thinking going V9 now.

Well today was a good day. My wallet is a lot lighter but I am getting a V9 EJ207 from JSpec. It will be shipping today or tomorrow. I am very excited.

The original picture I posted was the one I picked out. JSpec called my back after I had purchased it and told me it was sold in January but never taken off their website. They sent me one they had in stock and I am getting the one pictured now. Just as clean!

Who posted the timing component part numbers as I can not find that post anymore.

I am getting ready to do timing on my V9 S204 engine and want to get all oem parts as I already have the STi timing belt.

This is from Titter on post 820 in the info thread. For my engine I bought the Gates kit and an OEM water pump gasket. That's what I am putting on my V9.

So after reading all of the posts about the Gates tensioner. I ordered an OEM tensioner and will use the rest of the parts from the Gates kit. Does anyone think there will be a problem with this?

When I did mine, I also ran a new OEM tensioner, but with the STI (pink) belt (32K change interval).

Okay cool. I don't think there will be an issue if I use an OEM tensioner. Now I just need the engine to show up from J Spec haha.

Check which bearings you get in the Gates kit, a lot of people have been getting bearings from china and have play in them after only a few months, water pump failures have been popping up the last year or so too. Do you remember sergios 207 that had the water pump shaft back out through the timing cover? Gates pump from a new kit.
