'09 Black GR Hatch Front Grille
This is a serious question and the search function on this forum hasn't proved to be very good. I recently purchased a '09 OBP STi hatch and the front grille surround and foglight surrounds are painted like gunmetal silver (the fogs have actual chrome look to some accents on them). I don't really know much about these cars at this point but I have seen several STis with what appears to be stock matte black grille (top) surrounds and color matched fog light surrounds. Does anyone know where I can get these? Do these other ones that I see just have their stock gunmetal ones painted? Please help!

I think people just paint them. I painted mine with plasti-dip just to see how it looks (it's already peeling/chipping off). One of these days I'll paint them properly.

Honestly save the hassle and loo0k online, there are multiple companies who produce aftermarket grilles for a very reasonable price

Hassle? Hardly. But then I love doing crafty kinds of things. Doesn't even take much paint, and DIY is much cheaper than buying anything new, unless you find someone who wants to do a straight swap.
I didn't even take my grille off, I just taped like crazy and sprayed. The fog surrounds come off easily enough, just have to be careful not to scratch anything. I use a slim flat screwdriver with electrical tape wrapped around the tip. I didn't bother to tape those, I just sprayed the whole thing. Also, I think the cars w/o fog lights have all-black covers. Not sure why, but I've only ever seen that gunmetal trim on the cars with fogs. |
