Default 02/03 to 04 front end swap

Has anyone done this...someone made mention of it in the Mid-A forum, but nothing came out of it? I was thinking it might be really sweet to do a 02/03 front on a STI?? Talk about stealth!! Just wondering...pics, intrest?

thanks

John

There is a black WRX rolling around somewhere on here that has done an 04 conversion. Looks awesome. I believe it involves a new hood, fenders, bumpers, beams, and lights, at the least.

^ the black one is JDM Junkyard's.

Gary Sheehan's USTCC car also had an 02/03 to 04 conversion.

There's a bunch of other miscellaneous pieces you need besides the big pieces you mentioned above too. sounds kind of like a lot of work.

I believe JDMJunkyard (or something to that effect) did the conversion. That might be who you're referring to. And, yes, it does look great.

Yea.. prolly. If YOU had more money YOU woulda bought an STi. Actually I woulda bought me an IS, but dreams are dreams and I'm no rich kid. Secondly, what I was trying to say is, if you had an 04 and 03 available to you, and you bought an 04 over an 03, why would you switch over to an 03 and have to deal wiht the hassle of conversion when you just coulda bought the 03. Just more work in the long run than just buying an 03, since it was avaible. What does that have to do with gettin an WRX or STi?

dont really see the point of these conversions... why not just sell your 03 and buy an 04 or the other way around?

because a modded and hard worked on 03 will not buy an 04 and redo everything just for a front end.

and as for an 04 to 03, an sti owner won't find an 03 front end without importing. that's the only reason for that.

i heard that the only thing for the conversion would be fenders, hood, bumper and switch out the front core support to fit the new headlights

Very old thread. But seeing as how it's bumped anyways, to do it right you need:

Front radiator support
desired year crash bar
desired year fenders
desired year headlights
desired year grill
desired year hood/scoop
desired year bumper (fogs/covers)

lastly you need to swap/merge wiring for the headlights, as o4-07 are dual bulb and 02-03 are single bulb. I don't think I forgot anything. It's very straightforward and can be done without a new rad support if you are a halfway decent fabber/hacker. Chargespeed did/does make a conversion "bracket" for the headlights that you can use instead of swapping the rad support - good luck getting your hands on them though.

Could have waited two more years for the 10th anniversary.
