Help Me Please
My tubro blew up this week.... my car is 100% stock 26K and I have done the approiate maintiance (oil changes) but have done the most recent one my self.
The dealer FAIRWAY in Greenville, SC won't even look at the car untill I give them recipts. Car threw codes P0011, P0021, P0457... There is a massive amount of oil in the exhaust and i think turbo bearing is frozen. I really really need my car fix so if anyone can do anything I will reward them!!!!!!!!! i'm assuming they want receipts for maintenance? find another dealer. especially if it is the turbo, as there is no turbo maintenance item specifically.
but, my bet is with the poster above me, there has to be more to the story. turbo's don't go out at 26k for no obvious reason. my guess is that it might have something to do with this... Quote:

Last Oil change was in July 06 with roughly 22K Miles...
Car was on highway and when pulling away from tool booth under boost I heard a Squeel.. tought at first it was something rubbing on wheel. I drove for another few miles and heard it again... Looked down, CEL followed by horrible noise and TONS of white smoke was going about 85 in heavy traffic. Went like .5 Miles to next safe exit and pulled off to have car towed. Waited from 2:30 untill 7 when tow truck finall whoed up. Subaru sent wrecked to 185 not I85 where I was... dealer closed on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday... finally scanned ECU on Tuesday and told me they cannot proceed until I provied recipts of an oils change. Dealer claiming oil starved turbo failed b/c of no oil change. Car had been blowing threw some oil, used maybe 1 qt per 1000 miles. |

Your right...some some turbo's don't wait until 26k and blow with only 189 miles on a brand new 06, as mine did. Just because a situation is odd, does not mean it is not true/did not happen. Just because one person has never had a problem, does not mean that the next guy has not had twenty. I've had two 06 WRX in th past 10 months and have had a bunch of problems with both of them, and am currently having the a very simliar engine/turbo problem with only 3,000 miles on the second car, with the car broken-in following the manual and driving normal, no racing or beating on the car. Sometimes, crap just happens...

You are absolutly right. any man made product can never be guarantied not to fail. but for a person to say they have never raced or beaten on a wrx, come on man we dont buy these kinda cars to drive em like a grandma. |

Racing refers to competitive sports whose goal is speed, such as human runner racing and horse racing and auto racing.
Techinically I have never RACED. I have driven threw canyon roads with smile on face. The car is marketed to a certian group and as such should perform to thoes standards. It is just the same as if I sold carbon fiber race frames for a road bike that fell apart in competition and they said, well... it is just for looks. What type of reputation would i have??? |

Also, probally unrelated but my car has been in and out of shop 10 times for throwing codes.... latest 2 were during turbo failure.

Started looking into that however NYS lemon law says it must be a serious defect. IDK that a leak in the evaporator system would be a serious defect. I am starting the paper work now tho to file a lemon law claim. My car must have been built on a monday... |

WOW, you of all people are saying this? You willingly took a shortblock that you KNEW had quality issues and then bitched about getting a refund on a public forum. His story makes as much sense as yours did dude. Wow.... |

thats actually fairly expected. turbos are one of those things that if they last a couple thousand, they will probably last many thousand. (plot the curve of the returns, they are either soon after entering service, or much, much later. 26k is probably on a very low point of that curve) |

dealers are in their right to ask for proof the car has been serviced regularly before performing warranty work.
Hopefully you can provide them something, otherwise they or any other dealership are not obligated to help you. |

Also it seems odd that he could manage to go 4,000 miles with 9 quarts of oil in the motor. I'm guessing that's not what happened. After 4000 miles without any transmission fuild I think he would notice.
You say your car had been going through 1 quart every 1000 miles? That's a lot. When did this start? Did you take it to the dealer after noticing this? If no, then why the hell not? |

check it out bro your having the same problem i had serious except for me my motor blew. took my car in on monday to the dealership and they stated that the car had no oil at 29,000 miles. so they said i needed receipts of all the oil changes done to the car. guess what im screwed cause i did my own oil change at 26,000 miles. i was like its still under warranty so fix it. guess what they said HELL NO. i was ok f*** y**. so what i did was call soa and let them know my problem with this stupid subaru dealer called bob baker subaru which is located in carlsbad ca. well what ended up happening, soa called me back and said that they will only cover 50% of all the damages done to the car because i had no proff of the oil changes i had done to the car. so the cost to fix my repairs where about 4,420 but since they said theyll cut the repairs in half i was left to pay them only 2400. so my best advice i can give u is CALL SOA and start your claim. SEE what they can do for you. Dont let the dealership bull**** U. ok. again Call soa and see what they can do for u. Its your best bet. And again GOOD LUCK.

i say if u pay for warranty then the car should be warrantied for Free. Take the car back to the dealership and tell them to give ya another car. i believe if u take your car more than 5 or 6 times to the dealer, they must, not should, give ya a refund for your car. Do something before its to late millerbc. dont let them bs u around. kick them in the butt miller and put your smack down on them. its the only way, trust me. act fast or you will loose.

It's 3 times and it has to be for the same problem ( lemon law) . To the original guy , why not just go to any local mechanic , give him $50 and have him write you some reciepts ( problem solved) |

We had a guy come in and provide receipts that were made from his computer. No company name and the oil changes were done EXACTLY every 3,000 miles and 3 months. Raised a red flag right there... |

3 times, same problem, the shop has to be able to duplicate the problem, and the dealer has to have attempted to repair it.

I asked the dealer about oil usage, they said it was normal for the STi to consume some oil. I just kept adding. I did a lot of around town driving and figured it was blow through b/c the car was under boost a lot.
I think my car sucks anyways. It has been in and out of the dealer about 7 times already for throwing diffrent CEL's. The dealer in SC is a Prick. Noone ever go to FAIRWAY in Greenville, SC. |
