Default Should I Rebuild Motor Or Get A New Shortblock

well i got my oil changed over a week ago. after i got oil changed i noticed a metalic rattle at 3000 rpm. well i finnaly got it into subaru today and they told me it looks like the main bearings are shot. they are going to tear down the motor and let me know. if it is because of oil i am going to try to get the company where i got the oil changed at to pay for it. what do you think i should do? should i have them rebuild motor or should i get a new shortblock? if so what kind should i get? im only looking to spend 3 grand. also i wanted to know how much boost can the stockblock hold? i got protuned and had a max of 1.4 bar and was running my meth once in a while. only used the meth like 7 time other then that i would run on my no meth map.

How do oil changes cause this? (serious, not sarcastic question) I want to make sure to check/avoid problems that could cause my **** to break...

As for rebuilding depends on how much damage there is on the block. maybe a new crank or maybe it can be machined. Where are you located?

car had 28000 miles the last oil change had 1500 miles on it beacuse i changed oil before i deployed and when i got back i drove the car for 1500 miles then decied to get the oil changed since car sat for 5 months. no i dont drive my car like i stole it if i am driving fast i normally shift before 6000 rpm but i dont drive it like that that much. i use mobil 1 5w-30 used it the whole time i owned car. i also change oil ever 3000-4000 miles. car has never burned oil or anything. i am still wating for subaru to let me know what is wrong they said the should know by monday. do you think they will put aftermarket parts in if i ask them? there is no other place around here that i would trust with my car so cant go anywhere else. i am located in south dakota what parts do you think i should go with? i got my car tuned in colorado i dont think it was the tune cuz car was running great.

That's what I did a better pistons, rod etc.. Should throw a new cluth and some better motor mounts at the same time while your motor out.

Good luck with the built motor.
