Default Notice anything wrong with this picture?

Thought you all might get a laugh out of this...

My friend called me the other day saying that his car had gotten louder and he had an exhaust leak. When he looked on Friday he saw a missing bolt on the DP/CBE flange. We brought it to my office and put it on the lift. I a lot.

Exhaust is a 5+ year old BPM that has seen 5 Michigan salt-filled winters

I hate living here. 5 winters really is all it takes to make your car look like it belongs in a junkyard. The amount of salt they use is ridiculous.

MN has become pretty minimalistic with road salt being much more scientific and efficient specific to weather and road conditions with the application of any salt used. There have been local studies showing 70% of the road salt used washes into local lakes/streams doing a lot of environmental damage to fresh water organisms, so there have been big efforts to fix this.

Question should be "is anything right with this picture?"

Bummer. I hate the salt that comes with Michigan winters. The worst part is it's too cold for me to wash the car myself like I normally do so I have to spring for car washes that spray down the under body too.

I moved out of Michigan when I was a kid. I guess my parents knew that when I got older that the salt would slowly eat away at my exhaust so they moved the family.

I'm honestly surprised he noticed it getting louder. Its a BPM exhaust and I've never heard anything louder. When I had an non-resonated JIC we put them next to each other to compare and it drowned out the JIC .

The sad part is that its supposed to have been a full stainless turbo-back. The cat-back section looks like its 1 year old. The downpipe on the other hand...looks like they forgot to use stainless.

a friend had the BPM Twister on a v7 swapped bugeye

At night, I could hear him when he turned at the intersection to either come towards my house or to go the other way, towards his.

That intersection was ~4 miles away.

That bloody BPM made harleys cry

They weren't always stainless. When they first came out they were coated mild steel. After a lot of the pipes started rusting in the North American climate they redesigned the system to be stainless and offered people an upgrade to the new stainless pipe for 150 dollars. I went through the process back in early 2002.

OP, tell your friend to call them and see if they'll still honor this upgrade

looks like they cheated and didn't use stainless wire/electrodes to weld that divorced wastegate or dump-tube back onto the DP. Actually it looks like that DP wasn't stainless at all. That sucks.

That's not stainless. They used to be made of coated mild steel. They called the coating HPC, IIRC.
