Default Kind of odd behavior

Well I finished putting my harness together. I just had the ECU and engine bay connectors and built my own harness. Before I started it I wanted to just check the ECU via OBD2 to see if the ECU had power, codes from sensors not being hooked up, etc. Well I attach the battery and turn the key to ignition and the main/fuel relays click, etc. Fuel pump cycles via the WRX FPC. However I have no OBD2 connection to the ECU (via Deltadash). The odd part is when I go from ignition to just accessory, the ECU connects via OBD2 and DD read the codes, sensor values, etc. That would be the odd behavior. I think the ECU is on and working when on ignition because the CEL is on via the gauge cluster. If I unplug the main relay ( cutting power to the ECU) then it is no longer on.

I was wondering if anyone else had seen this? I haven't looked at the RS diagram yet to see if when the ignition is switched on a ground path is being interrupted or not.

Okay just testing things, the ground for the obd2 port does indeed go away when the when the key is in the on position. Guess I'll have to track down where it's going...
