so i have a 96 brighton that will be getting a WRX swap and i was wondering if i will need to have the front crossmemeber changed?

"sm legal" uhhh smog legal? what did you mean? the crossmemeber has nothing to do with adding smog/emissions into the atmosphizzy.

If you use a suitable up pipe, you don't have to cut or swap anything. Unique motorsports (subachad) used to make and sell these pipes that bolted to a stock non-turbo exhaust manifold but I don't know if he still is or not.

I have one sitting bolted to a WRX turbo that I probably won't be using for a good long time.....if it's something you might be interested in.

gotcha. now it makes sense. that would be really stupid if the tech inspector guy really is that anal about something like that. so if i dont cut or swap the CM when i get the WRX swap does that mean i cant buy a bigger down pipe or what not if i still have my stock brighton CM? hmmmmmmmm...........

i notched my crossmember today....
uppipe still didn't fit



so i ordered a legacy front cross today should be here in a couple days

I notched mine but I also added some bracing under it, that is a good cross section taken out.
