Let LED's light your way!

Default "It's in the Mail"

Like many, I have been purchasing items for my car from many of the wonderful vendors that are both sponsors of this site and are not.

Throughout the year I have been purchasing drivetrain, suspension, exterior and now electronic items for the car.

Some of you know from other posts that my latest endeavour has been that of LED lighting.

Thus far I have had zero problems with my purchases except for now.

Recently I purchased LED bulbs from a new vendor, three different times. The most recent purchase has not yet arrived. The items in question were sent by the vendor, via USPS, on Nov. 19th. It's now Dec. 7th (as of yesterday).

I also had some LED bulbs, from a previous vendor, covered under warranty. Not having received the warranted bulbs, I sent an email to that company yesterday. Their response was that these bulbs were sent, via USPS, on Nov. 15th. It's also now Dec. 7th (as of yesterday).

I have tracking numbers for each.

The new vendor is in Washington State. The previous vendor is in Missouri.

The new vendor's items take about 3-5 days to arrive via USPS and the previous vendor's items take about 2-3 days to arrive via USPS.

Other than these two pacakges, I have never had any problems - I've ordered a lot from the previous vendor as well as for other purchases from other vendors and a good portion of those orders came through USPS.

So, "it's in the mail" really does not sit well with me.

I even went to the P.O. this past week and was assured that "the item will be delivered".

Unfortunately, unlike FedEx/UPS/DHL/etc., a tracking number with USPS only shows the item(s) has(have) been mailed/delivered and not where the said packages are while in the system.

Either someone has stolen the packages or (call me paranoid) because these are LED bulbs and that some use "chip technology" that some other governmental department/agency has decided to "look" at my mail.

I don't need these bulbs. Right now I'm out about $100 because they're "in the mail".

Anyone else with problems?

Back to the boards and Happy Motoring.

This should be in the Venders Review forum and is worthless without vender info. Have you tried working it out with the vender, they are the ones that have to initiate any tracking or claims?

USPS is a black hole for packages. Unfortunately, the tracking number they give you just shows that it has entered the system - and it just might never make it out. Just hope that they insured the package and that USPS doesn't deny the claim. That's why UPS/FedEx/DHL exist - USPS is only good at delivering my Lowe's flier every Saturday.

Oh man, that sucks. That's why I always purchase things that get shipped or bought online with a credit card. If something happens, (dead beat vendor, wrong item, item not as described etc..) I can call my credit card and get my money back.

^^^

Yeah but this package is in the mail. Its not the vendors fault USPS is taking a very long time.

I would contact the vendor, have them contact USPS to get this sorted out. I dunno if USPS offers insurance but if its lost the vendor needs to get his money back from USPS and then resend new LED's too you...

usps does not offer tracking numbers

USPS offers "confirmation" numbers

these numbers may not update on www.usps.com until the package has been DELIVERED

USPS does not guarantee delivery unless the item has been shipped EXPRESS

Priority, first class and standard mail have no guaranteed delivery time

this time of year and with THE MASSIVE FLOODING AND DISASTER ISSUES IN WASHINGTON STATE THIS WEEK.....

Photos: http://www.king5.com/pix/news/

Your delivery may be a bit slower than normal....
Considering that 20 miles of the largest interstate in the state of WA were under 10 feet of water most of the week.....

I would relax a little bit if I were you I'm sure that things are just moving slower than normal

I recently had a problem with a vendor with bulbs and like you I was going nuts blaming them. Then we found out our problem was that with my paypal payment, my old address was never updated to my new address. I since had that repaired, correctly, and the shipping has been fine since then. But I want to say that I got beat for a hundred dollars from a member on this site, and have gotten no satisfaction... BUYER BEWARE I feel your pain, check the shipping address thing phil

Thanks for the responses.

Actually, I'm not worried in the least. That's why I said that "I don't need these bulbs"; and that's also why I put in the

Hey, look. I'm aware of the weather and the unfortunate problems it has caused. I'm also aware that we had one holiday to be followed by another, including the ensuing holiday shopping.

Seriously though, I've been very, very, fortunate with respect to telephone/online purchasing in that out of everything I've ever ordered, I've had only one item come through damaged and then most recently these two [currently] missing packages.

With respect to each vendor, once it's left their hands and delivered to the Post Office, it's in the "black hole". That's not how they put it, but basically that's what it is.

Hey, this really is no big deal and that was my point.

Anywho, be well, be safe (especially on the roads) and as always, Happy Motoring
