1. Turn your steering wheel to the right, look under your drivers side fender and remove the little pop-clips, try not to break them.

2. Turn your steering wheel to the left and remove the clipson the passenger side.

3. on both sides pull back the plastic panel that covers the fender, feel inside along the bumper, there's going to be a clip on the inside about 1.5 inches from the fender wall. Pop those out, if you can't get them, cut them with a dremel, you can use a bolt later to replace these.

4. Pop the hood, with a thin flat tipped screwdriver push in the clips on your grille and remove it.

5. Next take out the little phillips screw that holds your corner lights in and pop those out gently or else you're going to break the clip.

6. With a 10mm rachet, take out the 4 bolts holding in the headlights, making sure to remember to unplug them (you have no idea how many times I did that!)

7. after all this is off, you're going to see a few 2 piece pop-clips, pop all these out, more then likely if your car is older, they're just going to break, so have some bolt or new clips to replace them.

8. There might be one or two clips or a small bolt holding the bumper on by the bottom or in the airdam... I've never actually removed a 94's bumper.

9. Undo all the electrical like blinkers and fogs and then slide the bumper skin off.

10. to take off the bumper beam, there's 4 HUGE bolts on the front of the engine floor. I think they're 21mm, they're hard to miss... Just make sure you have an extension and breaker bar, I couldn't even get these off with impact tools! So have a strong friend handy!

Good luck... you owe me a beer!

Bry.

Only if you car is equiped with a rear swaybar (but yes it fits). If its FWD you have a problem, if it just doesnt have one and its AWD then you need to get new rear control links with the swaybar connections from a more recent GC model with them along with swaybar mounts and endlinks.

Depends on the actual part. I find most of my stuff from other local members or from the private sale/vendor forums. I rarely use the actual online sites.

I guess you all can add me to this thread now.. I just got a 1995 Impreza L sedan.. I'm pretty sure it's a 1.8L as soon as I opened the hood the first thing I saw was the large amount of free space around the spark plug wires. I'm still trying to figure out that the hell that manual switch is on the gear shifter.. Oh and yea it's FWD.. Boo for Subaru I think the tires are 15 inchs? Anyway the car has to be repainted.. It's that light greenish color.. umm And the car feels way too soft. btw it has 128K miles on it. Oh and yea if it is indeed a ej18 wow what a short stroke it has.. something like 2.25 in.

here is my 95 L stock.. want to convert it to a 2.5RS bodywise as it has a 1.8l engine I don't plan on having it much longer then a year. But as you see the color is hard to work with..

And on the side note.. I think the heat shield is loose? around 1500 rpms acclerating their is a metal rattleing sound coming from what sounds like under the car like something is loose. I can't put my finger on it. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

should be able to see the pictures

my 97 L had a few exhaust shield rattles when i got it, the real annoying one was actually from the shild over the muffler..all i had to do was bend the edges so it stiffened the whole shield(put a rib of metal on the side so it didnt flex), the 2nd i had was the one almost in the middle of the car, i did the same thing with that one to prevent it from making noise, and the 3rd was the driver side exhaust manifold shield..the support bracket welded to the manifold that the shield bolts onto broke..so all i did was crush the shield in carefully untill it was unable to move, i think i also put a large hose clamp around it too somewhere..
but thats what took care of my rattles..till i got my Stromung..the driver side hanger bracket on the muffle itself was actually rubbing against the body bracket for the hanger..since Stromung didnt design the exhaust perfectly, it has the driver side of it tilted up a tad and it actually squished the hanger..again, i fixed this by bending the little lip of metal the stromung was hitting, lol.

i got alot of bent exhaust stuff under my car.
no more rattles though

I think I found the rattle.. under the car the left exuast downpipe the metal part that covers under the piping seems to be loose.. I don't know if I can make it any tighter as it's a little rusty with the bolt.

And btw the stock supension on this car sucks! geez just siting in the car causes it to bounce.. way too soft for me.. I wonder if 2.5Rs parts will fit for this department?

Well I found the rev limiter.. 6,000 rpms no more rattle from the heat shield after I tightened the bolt. Is it just me Or this fuel guage really slow to move up?

It takes FOREVER to move all the way to a full tank.. it took me about 3 min to drive back from the gas station and it's just about 3 marks from full..

subaru impreza power- congrats on FINALLY getting an impreza, yours is more base model than mine! ill bet the struts are pretty bad, mine were leaky at around 100,000 miles as well. bummer about the FWD though i always got rocks in my heat sheilds that would bounce around. you might have some trouble upgrading suspension being FWD, i dont have much experiance in this area though.

Got the plugs and installed them today, easy as pie

I also did something a few of you L folks might want to consider if you have a leak in your Power Steering resevoir. I just got that leak for the 2nd time after having the whole pump assembly replaced a year and a half ago. Its a common problem aparently, so I figured out a way to fix it I hope...

LMAO!! yes Finally.. For one thing it's harder to find this body style.. And I really wanted a 98 2.5 RS but that turned up no good.. I would of had a less harder time looking for a used wrx then that car.

I don't know what to do suspension wise.. And did you keep stock tire size?? I can't find any tires this small..

Oh yea i think i'm going to change the exhaust will a soobysport fit? I know it's pricey but I think it sounds a little better then some of the others.. I just don't know if it will fit.

And I don't think borla has any headers for the 1.8L just the 2.2 & 2.5 I think.
