Default Rattle can paint questions!

So I got my car back from the shop this week but it's going back on monday and I'm not sure how long it'll be there and I wanted to paint it before it goes back since last year's cheap paint job is fading and I want to get it covered before winter so I started a little project, going from black to red with Color Place all purpose paint from walmart! (can't beat $1/can) but holding the can so the nozzle points down to do my hood, roof, and most of my trunk lid seems to produce a spotty spray pattern, where some bits look glossy as it should but other spots are dull/flat. I THOUGHT a final coat of red enamel from autozone would help but it made matters worse. I am going to have to let it dry, sand it down a bit, and do another coat to fix my mess but I'll still be left with that funky spray pattern. It looks fine on parts where I don't have to point the can down like that so I'm wondering if there are any tricks to avoid making it look like that aside from taking those parts off the car =P.

Also, I kinda got some paint on my cloth interior (/facepalm) any tips how to clean it off without ruining the seats? Thanks!

[Edit] I guess while I'm here I should ask about a decent "clear coat in a can". Krylon crystal clear, Rustoleum lacquer, Duplicolor clear enamel, and Duplicolor clear lacquer seem to be my options at the moment. Need to stick to something I can get in a can at a store. Thanks again

I'm not sure about how to make a rattle can paint look good on your car, but as for the interior I suggest you get a comb, go up and down till you get off the larger pieces and then after that shampoo it. I got paint from a job site on my carpet floor in my car and it came out just fine after I did that.

Good luck!

There was a thread on here about someone who rattle-canned their hood and it turned out extremely good. The key is in the prep, make sure you sand it down well, clean it up, use multiple coats, and seal it with clear.

You can't mix lacquers and enamels. If your using walmart paint I'd just use the same brand clear. I'm taking it this is just temporary?

Yeah it's just to hold me through the winter, planning on getting a proper paint job next year. Of course that's what I said last year but it ended up sitting at a garage since march so who knows lol.
