e85 is a committment. It's great if it's available everywhere you drive. for me it isn't. you may also want one-step colder plugs to help prevent predetonation. |

^it has a vf48, but the chart says vf43, not that there's much difference.

there are websites that show you the nearest station for E85, if you put in your address.

im kinda stuck right now dont know if anyone can help me. this is where im at
Car:02 wrx Tuner: Paul Dyno: mustang Peak Hp at rpm:316Hp @ 6500 rpm Peak torque at rpm: 283 @ 4400 Baseline hp/tq for a stock on same dyno: 220/230 @16.5 PSI Target Boost:18 Target AFR: 11.2 Fuel:gas 93 premium octane Driveline Modifications: stock Suspension Modifications: stock Engine mods: vf48 DW650 Walbro 255 GMS turbo inlet GMS after maf Short ram intake erz catless up pipe helix catted down pipe JNA 3in catback Hallman mbc ajw/ssac fmic NGk 1 step colder plugs Hks ssqv bov my clutch started slipping so now im swapping it for a act hdss and my hks bov is leaking so im going back to oem. Now im going to get a retune by sti mikey soon and i want more power but dont wana spend a lot more money. Has anyone see significant gains from a pnp on a vf turbo? im trying to decide if i should look into a fphta68 ported for around $1000 or just pnp my vf48 for $200. i know the hta68 will be more power but my vf did pretty good so will the pnp let me hit boost earlier so my power is there quicker. Im leaning torwards just pnp the vf48 because im also worried about the hta68 breaking my 02 trans. which im already past breaking point.i think im going with 20psi this time and ill probably pnp my IM and do tgv delete. |

Thats actually what im thinking about now, instead of spending $1000 on a turbo I can spend like 500 on a turbo pnp and some pnp'd headers or x over pipe.I'm trying to get the most power out of my current setup, but another tuner said go for the hta68. What else can I do with wat I have to make power I know going from 18 psi to 20 will increase my numbers.the only other thing I can do is get a catless dp.

What about blow thru tube? rackin my brain... cant' think of much else. Maybe a higher flow IC? Reverse intake manifold, if you're willing to do the work required for TGV deletes.

Blow thru tube? Im considering tgv deletes if I can do it myself I don't think I can do a reverse IM but I didn't know it increased power. Well I dont wana spend a lot of money so it looks like I'm just going to do some basic stuff I aiming for 330whp and want to hit full boost around 3500rpms.

It would be cool if you could score a meth kit used also. Since you already run the fmic i was thinking blow thru tube. You should look into it. Im not certain of all the benefits, but it might be worth it.

Its not a spray like nitrous. Its a programmed injection using your tune that injects water/methanol (at WOT I assume) to lower intake temps, increase compression, and prevent detonation/ preignition. I believe it allows for more agressive timing. You would see 330 hp easy. correct me if im wrong.

yea id like to run a meth kit but i dont really track my car and its already at 137k. im thinking of just doing some more exhaust stuff with a pnp intake and turbo and go up from 18-20 what ever i make with that i should be happy. how safe is running meth tho i know you have to use a fail safe incase you run out of meth. with all the parts i already have i dont have much room for more power unless i upgrade the turbo.

I've had a brand new VF48 sitting in a box in my garage for 9 months now. In all honesty - I'm too worried about the 5mt in my 06 WRX going bye bye under the power, and I'm in NO position to replace it if it does.
Does anyone have some real world mileage numbers while running a VF48 setup? Is 300whp the magic number? Talk me off the ledge! LOL |

I hit 307 whp and 340 wtq with my vf48 and the 5 speed mt on my 2006 wrx. I've only gone about 3k since the build, but have had no slippage or any problems. I don't launch and don't 'speed slam' during shifting. I'm not real knowledgeable but I've heard that unless your beating on it 300 is no problem for the 5 speed. Hook it up, get tuned and post up the dyno numbers !!! Good luck. Last edited by makeawish; 01-29-2011 at 11:39 AM. |

I might sell the VF48 (it only has 250 miles on it...) and use the money for some coilovers or wheels. Hmmmm.... |

i put about 10k miles on my 06 wrx since i installed and tuned 1.5 years ago. so far no problems at all. most of those miles were pretty easy. car made 290whp/330wtq on EFI's mustang dyno.
put it on and the best advice is to drive smooth. |

I've had my VF48 setup for going on 1.5+ years and 15k+ miles, so far no issues at all. Knock on wood. Stock tranny & OEM clutch.
