Default Best Roads of Bend, Oregon Area!

Hey,
I am just starting a thread about the best roads in the Bend, OR area. We got the mountain roads but I am just wondering what is the best. Post your favs so people know where to drive, where the the 50 are not present. Maybe we can start some meets in the area weekly to drive. Who knows? hope to hear the best.
Thanks Guys!

Gravel or pavement?

The Aufderheide has to be one of the best tarmac rides around.

Also hwy 20 at the East end of Oregon is pretty killer, but it's a long round trip to go out there.

As for gravel, we're swimming in it. Go up sky liners and pull off almost anywhere. Or go out China hat, and again, pull out nearly anywhere!

I don't get much chance to just drive, but I'd make an effort to be there if meet/trip was set up. I know a few others who would be too.

The 20 to Corvallis is about as fun as it gets, and is usually pretty low traffic. I mostly like it because I've driven it 200+ times in the last 10 years and I know it like the back of my hand.

20 to the East has a 19 mile section of road without a single turn in it, and it starts at the top of a ridge so you can almost see the entire length.

Out in Millican valley there is plenty of smooth gravel/dirt that is fun, anywhere in and around Pine Mountain.

my moms family lives in bend. I'll alert the boards when I'm coming down, I didn't realize how many scenic drives there were. I will just have to drive my wrx down there separate from my family when we go there next time

Gotta watch it on all of those drives..The Johnny Laws have nailed a bunch of WRXs, STis, and even GCs getting "proud" in all those spots. Don't like hearing about people getting nailed going 100+ on gravel (or on 20) in a STi street car during the day..The speed limit on the forest roads is 35mph. Or people getting pushed off the road into the trees by F350s on spur roads. I'm all for the good drives, but need to keep it low key.

A "drive" in Central Oregon in the Winter should be a snow rally cross or something like it.. Nothing to hit, no one to upset (USFS, Staters, county), lots of sideways..The roads have been too slick for any spirited driving even with good snow tires on..

Save a "drive" on any of those Highways until spring..The nice, warm sunny weather shown in the pics isn't exactly the same as the sideways snow falling today..

The Crooked River Gorge road is pretty nice, part tarmac, part gravel...the part connecting Prineville and Hwy 20.

And, it's pretty! (I'll be on that road this weekend!)

low key + often = NOT low key...

Like B- said, Spring is better. I think a lot of peeps around here with Subies spend their free time at the Mountain, so a drive would be out...
