Default What's to do in Bend Oregon?

Hey All, i'm gonna be spending my spring break in Bend Oregon, and i was wondering what is there to do. My GF's dad has a lift, so i'll probably be checking up on the car, getting in new coolant, brake fluid, and oil...

But aside from that, can anyone suggest anything? I don't know how to ski or snowboard, BTW

Thanks!

learn, to ski/ snowboard, go golfing, go hiking, lots of trails and mountains that are easy day hikes.

Drive like a bat outta hell on hwy 20 east of Bend towards Burns.

Go to Sisters and hike to the top of Black Butte, (half day, if you're in shape) see the old ranger station.

Go to Mt. Bachelor and have lunch at Pine Marten Lodge halfwayup the mountain.

Check out Lava River Cave, the longest lava tube in the world.

Since you're bringing your car out there, definately do the Century Drive...42 (S Century Drive) to 46 (Lava Lake Rd which turns into the Cascade Lakes Hwy and eventually into Century Drive Hwy) which will loop you around and then up and over Mt Bachelor. Lots of nice smooth sweepers and breathtaking views.

That's a very good drive, problem is, the highway is closed at the base of Bachelor due to snow, but you can at least go up to the ski area parking lot, I drove up there last weekend to go skiing and the road was bare and dry. Shouldn't take too long to melt off what is up there but at any rate, it will be a few months before the highway fully opens up and you can do the entire Cascade Lakes run.

As for things to do, it really depends on what you like to do. There's lot's of outdoorsy things to do if you're into that (hiking, mountain biking, kayaking/canoeing, fishing, rock climbing (both indoor and of course Smith Rock), drive down to Crater Lake). Lots of local breweries to check out, if you are of age. If your lucky there might even be a concert down at the Old Mill District. And possibly coming soon..... Rally in the Central Oregon area!

Slow way down going into Sisters. Even if you are holding up five or six locals behind you.
