Default WHy Gran Turismo (GT4) no have AutoX course

After my first autocross, a great idea dawned on me. Why not include a "autocross" editor in the next Gran Turismo game. Since the game is not about racing, but instead driving, it would be awesome.

The "layout" would be:

One flat lot. Black tramac, some trees for a background, or shrubs maybe.
On this lot you can place cones to create whatever shape and size "auto-x" course you want within the lot.

Can it be done? Definately. There are at least 2 PSone games with track editors and GT3 has cones in it that are independent from the track and can be knocked around.

I think it would be neat to construct your very own tight auto-x course where say 2nd gear might be the max and settings play a large role.

First, it's a Japanese game, so it'd be a "gymkhana" course

Secondly, anyone with a rental car can autocross. In other words, why would I want to spend time autocrossing when I could be driving a 800hp Supra race car around Motegi?

Finally, autocrossing on a TV with a controller is stupidly difficult. You more or less have to guess where the edges of your car are, since you can't see them, and low-speed control with a game pad isn't eash.

Uhhh.... it DOES have an AutoX thing. Maybe you can't create your own, but it's there.

Word. That game is AWESOME. I just recently purchased the full version. With the exchange rate, came to $22. Well worth it. It definitely has the best physics model of any racing game I've ever played. I don't even care that it has only like 9 cars and none of them are real.

hey go to http://lfs-files.racesimcentral.com and search through some of the stuff, they have this thing called `LFS Tweak` where you can mess w/ like 3 or 4 cars and you can make them fwd, change tire size, put slicks, change horsepower, weight, and a bunch of other good stuff..fun for messing around in the drag racing track

edit : you can also get this wheel changing thing where you can put different wheels on

It would be fun if they actually increased the sense of speed. <100 feels like 20 mph in GT3.

chkltcow: What's that from? GT4 or prologue? I had no clue about a course like that and it's pretty neat.

Prologue.... but it's already been stated that gymkhana courses WILL be in GT4 when the full thing is released.

And Tim is right... that thing is hard as hell! You see what my best time is compared to what a gold medal and silver medal are, don't you? It's almost impossible to get through that little corner that I have in the 2nd pic without coming to almost a complete stop.... or hitting cones and getting disqualified. It's just way too hard to tell where the car is in relation to the cones.

Its best use would be to lay out the course of your next local autox and get a feel for it. I imagine it would be a pain in the ass to drive well on the game.

I know, but they're very similar, and they don't have autocrosses in Japan, they have gymkhanas.

Man, you guys must have had the "Special" exchange rate. The dollar has been around $1.20 to 1.00 euro for a while. That would make it $14.40.

That's the stupidest autoX ... you have to completely stop, back up, and then drive forward again at those 2 sharp corners
I gave up trying to get gold on this course.

And yeah, it feels VERY tight when you're playing a video game, you just can't tell if you're going to hit the cones or not. And if you hit a cone, its game over, not +1/2 seconds...

Just trying to keep people from getting ripped off. Euros were stated earlier, no mention of pounds.
