also do you have to use the 10A fuses with the taps or can u stick with the stock 15A fuses?

I took the side cover off the drivers side dash board. There was a couple of screws that were easily accessible for grounding.

really? i tried one but got nothing to illuminate but i think im gonna run the ground up to the radio ground and use a aligator connecter to easily tap in. i was using the stock 15amp fuses and i think that might have caused them not to work also, i swapped the 10amps in there like OCD described and see how that works, now that im at work ill try and see if i have success with the 10amp fuses and the radio ground.

How does the ground wire work, you can just wire it up to any metal screw behind the dash? Also, where did you buy the fuse taps and ground eyelet, home depot? I've never seen those anywhere.

I grounded my gauges to bolts just behind the shroud. works fine. I got my fuse taps on ebay and they are the dual-fuse type, one that fuses the original fuse location and one that fuses the part you tapped into.

I got the dual fuse holders from Advanced Auto Parts. I went straight into the fuse box with my wiring. I tapped in to an ignition port on the fuse box. I forget witch one. Take a look at this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ht=smy+install
It has a ton of pictures and tells you what ports in the fuse box were used. |

Well, I couldn't figure out the fender liner step.. the plastic screws come out easy enough, but no idea where to route the wire from the engine bay into the wheel well. Maybe I'll try going through the firewall behind the intercooler.
Also I apparently the fuse taps I bought are too big. FML. Last edited by arf80; 12-03-2011 at 07:03 PM. |

I ended up removing the battery, then it was easy to feed the wire through.
edit: the gauge does dim Last edited by arf80; 12-16-2011 at 07:30 PM. |

Jesus christ, after reading like thousands of write ups, i finally understand how to install a boost guage -_-.
I mean like when i first saw this i was confused as f@wk, so i went google and searched different ones, and started to understand how it works, and at the end of the day, i realize is just there are different ways for you to route it, so it confused me. And this is the most OCD write up i found. OCD matches me too hahahha =] |

Thanks, lol.
I post like I think. I think like I mod - OCD. I figure if you are going to take the time to do something and show others you might as well show them the whole thing. My motorcycle build thread on another forum is like 14 pages and that is mostly me posting. Takes forever to post but hey, it helps. |

I was just looking at the gauges themselves and I noticed that you have silver rings, which differs from the pictures in the box, which show a black/silver alternating pattern ring.
Do you choose which trim ring you want? The reason I ask is that I already have BFs on my MY2006 in a clock pod, but I was planning on running a console mounted dual gauge pod for a Innovate LC-1 with DB gauge and a 52mm Red Racer gauge. If the trim ring is silver, that would be ideal. |
