Default What the Puck! NHL Hockey 2018-2019

Now that the awards are over and offseason moves will soon begin, I figured I'd start the official thread for next year.

Let's Go Caps, your 2017-2018 Defending Stanley Cup Champions.

Is Barry Trotz the Isles coach yet?

Nice.

Quote:
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Trotz will sign a five-year contract with the New York Islanders expected to be worth at least $4 million a year.
And could be finalized today.

Draft tonight, should be a ton of movement! Deep draft so there's no certainty on who goes where after #2. Guys like Karlsson, Pacioretty and Grubauer should all be traded today.

If the Caps get 11 or 12 from the Isles for Grubs, I'd be ecstatic. Great way to top off an amazing season.

I'd be surprised if they got both picks, but I think it's likely they get the 11th and maybe their extra 2nd too or the 3rd rounder.

There's no way they get both. May even have to add a 2nd or 3rd to get one of them. But getting a top 15 pick in a draft like this is a big deal. As many as a dozen teams are interested now, too.

Bruins need someone who can take some/most of Chara's load, as much as he'll hate giving it up.

And please don't sign Rick Nash or Brian Gionta for next year.

Orpik and Grubauer to Colorado for 2nd round pick. Disappointed in that return but salary dump to sign Carlson I guess.

In classic Canucks fashion, half the city is pleased with the Hughes draft pick and the other half are calling for Jim Benning’s head.

But hey, we got Jett Woo.

I'm actually pleased with the Woo draft. He's a big kid, and he grew up in Winnipeg, so you know he's tough. His dad played mid-level hockey, and was in both Goon movies, so yeah.

Then there's that name. Wooooo!
I can hear it echoing the halls of Rogers arena already.

Don't get me wrong, I like Drew Doughty and all. But 11 mil a year for 8 more years? That might be pushing it.

Hey Bestie, what's the Blue/Sabres trade going to look like tomorrow. Ryan O'Reilly for what?

Dude, I've heard so many rumors I don't know what to believe.

My theory currently is
Sobotka, Thompson, 1st for R'oR.

Thompson could be interchangeable with Kyrou.

I think that's general framework if it gets done. I don't know for sure yet.

The Doughty signing is just insane...those are some numbers.

I think the Blues sign Pat Maroon tomorrow...I don't know if it helps. But whatever.

Yeah, lots of talk.
I'm a big ROR fan and don't want to see him leave, but I think I might be down for that. I'm also wondering in Nylander if involved some how. They kept him out of prospect camp for an "injury"

I'm pretty bummed it appears Jay Beagle is headed out, probably to Vancouver. He's played his whole career here, great on face offs, defensively and on the PK. He's earned a decent raise but he's a 4th liner after all and will be 33 when the season starts. Apparently there is a bidding war for him, so I think where ever he lands they will have overpaid. But... I kind of wish they had figured out a way to keep him somehow but let DSP go. Best of luck Beags!

Looks like 4 years, 12 million for Beagle with the Canucks.
