Default Is Cobb going to offer V1.0 owners an upgrade option?

I was wondering if anyone knew if Cobb has any plans of offering the Version 1.0 users an upgrade option to the 2.0. The new one has some much more functionality and the old and i would like to upgrade but i would never pay another $600+ for a new one. I think that it would show Cobb is willing to help out thier loyal customers that would like to do a nice little upgrade. Comment if you like

no i don't believe they are offering an upgrade. what would cobb do with all the old AP units after buying them back? they are not selling them any more. the resale is still pretty good on an AP, but it may not stay that way forever...

That kind of sucks. I would be really upset if i bought a 1.0 say 3 or 4 months before they came out with the 2.0. Thanks for the responses!

Did Subaru offer to buy your WRX when the STi came out? Same thing...
If you want an upgraded model, you need to buy it.

Cobb will never have an upgrade option. Its just like if you were to demand Sony to have a trade in program on their PS2's since they just made the PS3. BTW I have an AP2, once I flashed my ECU I put the AP back in the box and haven't opened it since.

Could you explain this, rather than camparing the AP to ps2's (like everyone else) and giving me no useful information. Thanks.

Well I hope this is usefull information for you, If you like/want the extra features of the AP 2 then sell your AP 1 to someone who will be happy to buy a v1 to save XXX $. Then for you it would be the same as if Cobb gave you XXX $ as trade in and you just have to pay for the difference to upgrade...

I bought my AP v.1 last October, a few weeks before the 2006 SEMA show. A few days after I got it and had already reflashed my ECU I was checking Cobb's site for updates when I found that the AP was discontinued awaiting an announcement after SEMA. Yea, that announcement was the AP v.2. I was sooooo pissed....

I also bought an ap v1 a few weeks before the v2 came out. But I knew the v-2 was coming out, and bought the v-1 anyway. I had done alot of research on nasioc/cobbs website and found no reason to wait for the new version. I see no reason to get the v-2 at this time. I am actualy glad I got the v-1 just from the price difference alone. I know its been said a gajillian times before, "they are the same maps".

All / (most) of you are rediculous!

Honestly... How many times do you mess with the AP once you have the flash done?
I had a ruff start and used it a few times and in the past year I have not even touched it. Just sits next to my computer in the house.

If you are using it as some sort of guage, then do yourself a favor and buy a real guage and mount it.

Ok, i said it would be nice to upgrade but im not set on buying or upgrading to a v2. Like you said i have not touched mine much since i bought it(except for going from stage 1 to 2). I use defi gauges and dont use the ap for those purposes. But, i like some of the features with the v2. For example, swithcing maps on the fly would be very nice, but i cant do that on a v1. I just wanted some general information and to see how others felt about the topic. Like one person said earlier in the thread, he is pissed that he bought a v1 and knew nothing about the v2.

Well it may have come off as trying to be a smart ass, but it seems like the logical thing to do... JMO

EDit; Everything... you buy today is obselete/out dated the day you buy it, and everyone just needs to realize they can't have everything the newest and the best all the time. Again JMO

nah, its cool man. It is logical but did come off wrong. I was more or less trying to see how people felt about the whole thing. Im not going to go through any trouble to get a v2, i have bills to pay

Same here, Stage 1 flash, back in the box for 5 months. Bought a Helix D/P and Tsudo exhaust, had it pro tuned for stage 2, and then back in the box where it sits. The pretty screen on the new one does me no good.

Sell it and buy a new one...I don't realy think you can up-date an '03 AP v1 to make it work on a '07.

thats what i was thinking... the crappy part is all the AP really provides your ecu with is information... there's always a way around things like that, just a matter of if its worth it or not

....all you guys using AP and OTS maps are just scratching the surface of all of this.

OTS maps suck compared to a well tweaked tune.

stepping beond AP is the key......v1 or v2 is, really, irrelevant
