Do people give U the, "Blizzard outside, and you want to go drive your car?!?"
We drive AWD cars. And Some of us, like me, have winter tires on them. Which makes them go through, up, down, around, and over ANYTHING. Less than a foot of snow, I'm out playin'.
It just buggs the Hell out of me how some people see 5 inches and think they are trapped. And even if you say you can drive in it, they don't believe you. Some people acually asked me If I was going to keep my old car (90 Shadow) for winter driving. I just laughed. Forgive all the Ranting. I'm sure you all experienced this negativity once in ur AWD's life. [This message has been edited by Miracle Worker (edited January 25, 2001).]

grrr. I have no snow!!! I'm so pissed. At least when there was a little snow my girlfriend would get mad at me for missing out on primetime to spin around some parking lot... I need more ways to get under her skin!

Eh, when I show up late for somewhere and it's been snowing, it's assumed I was 'playing' in the snow.

In Dallas, every other vehicle on the road is a 4wd truck... and still they salt the roads, close schools and businesses and grocery stores have riot control to contain the "milk and bread" frenzy.
Just about 2 weeks after I picked up my RS, we had an ice storm... and I was out at 5am to play. Nice. |

Chasing plows around large parking lots is fun. The bucket loader guys hate me at the local Stupid-Stop&Slop.

You think its bad there in Pa, you should come to Atlanta! When people hear about even an inch of snow they freak! All of the grocery stores are instantly crowded full of people expecting to be trapped for weeks on end. Personally I think that the local T.V. stations have agreements with the grocery store chains here in town to announce snow warnings just so that they can get more business

Like JayP i got my RS just in time for the snow we got here in TX. It was funny seeing the look on the SUV drivers faces as i passed them by. Pooh and i went out playing both times. We dont get snow much here so when we do it gets crazy. Most Texans run into enough stuff when it rains. Me and the Scoobie guys i know are the only ones praying for snow around here. I was lookin for excuses to drive.

well, that is why we chose the cars we did right? i mean, i bought a car that would go through any type of weather condition. small and AWD.
i am out playing every snow storm, and i laugh at everyone in their huge, rwd/fwd, gas guzzling cars. yes people know why i am late to appointments, and it is not because of the conditions if you notice people who buy subarus are smart people like us. justin |

Oh yeah, they definitely do ...My friends are all freaking out, and I'm driving around with permagrin ...The first big snowstorm of the season here in NJ, I was out and had tons of fun. I even saw a snowplow get stuck (so I sat and watched him try to get unstuck). Helped a guy get his KIA Sportage outta the snow...And after we got him out, the other guy that stopped to help asked me, "Are you gonna be able to get out ok?" I nearly laughed at him, but managed to control my mirth and said, "Yeah, I'll be fine." Heck, I saw a blazer spin it's tires on a very slight incline..Was waiting for it to suddenly catch traction and spin out or something. I actually went food shopping DURING the storm because I had nothing else to do and there was like no one there...Besides, I was already in the supermarket's parking lot......
I can honestly say, that I don't think I'll ever go back to FWD or RWD and be happy about it...AWD = All We'll Drive ! |

One time I called in to work to take the day off and "play in the snow".
My co-workers found out what I was doing in the bad weather outside and now I hear about it every time it snows. I'll probably never live it down...cause I won't be driving anything but a Scooby! |

I have a 2000 RS and I thought that I would share this with you all.
I was driving with one of my friends, and we were at this persons house that we both know. Now, for some reason (which we don't know) people have been driving threw there front yard and making trails...so, we thought that I should take it to the next level. I drove threw, and around her backyard! The snow was around 12 to 15 inches deep! When we got out of my car, we both couldn't stop laughing. I had to clear the radiator, foglights, turnsignals, and also the HEADLIGHS from the snow! I still can barely believe it. Just thought that youd like to hear about it |

I live to drive in bad weather. Unfortunately A lot of the white stuff has gone south of where I live Duluth, MN. It's just been cold. I have to say the soobie makes excellent heat though. Much better than my GM Venture.

I am waiting for my first opportunity to take this puppy out in the snow... just as soon as the 60 degree weather goes away that is. What a strange winter we are having here. I can't stand how people over react when it snows... a flake falls and it's a mad dash to the stores. Why is it everyone buys bread and milk anyway? I would think, get some beer and nachos. But maybe that is just me.

didn't have any snow either, but had some mud, so piled up some friends in the car and drove thru the mud, fun to slide all over.
man it took forever to get that mud off, and now I got some rattling in the front, think I knocked off some front clip plastic hooks, oh well. Time to get some mud flaps, front and rear protectors, mud guards, light covers, etc. |

Unfortunately I haven't had any good fun in the snow since my '92 Legacy wagon.. One snowstorm I packed my friend in and we went up to Capital peak... as we got up towards the top there was a lit of traffic?!?! So everyone stopped. Turns out there was a 4x4 'Burban fell off the road, and a 80-something Toy was trying to winch him out. Whatever. We decided to go home, so I did a 4 point turn (1 lane road, fresh powder over the headlights, mind you) and we headed home. You should have seen the looks on all of the hicks faces, stuck up there in a long line, no hope of turning around... to see a little wagon go by. On the way down the hill there were big lifted trucks pulling over to let me by. And yes, that was on the stock tires (dare I say they were RE92's back then?) When I got back in town I took it to a pressure washer/car wash to get the snow out of the grill and off the lights.
In the giant windstorm a few years ago I went out to clear roads after a bunch of trees fell over, and I surprised a bunch of people by hooking a rope to the wagon and pulling trees off the road. |
