Yeah I was thinking I misunderstood what you were saying.

Flex sensor input is one reason I picked the vipec for my car. One of these days I will post a build thread. Yours is pretty nice all that you have been able to do with it.

That's why I said capable instead of compatible my car is fully flex fuel compatible but it would be cool to fill up and go without swapping maps!

Yeah post up your build and thanks for the props! It's mostly good but knowing the power I made now I would have done a few things different!

Wow, nice to read about the numbers on the ID1300s. My next move was to switch from the FIC1100s to ID2000s, but the 1300s seem great for my goals. How much life is left in your pump at this point?

I think my ID1300 injectors and pump are pretty well matched, 80% IDC on the injectors at 28.5psi/ 573WHP and about <80% of the Walbro 465's capacity at 50psi base pressure.

Nice to hear the ID1300's are exactly what you needed, as will I when I switch to E85. You're making me want to switch back to my ETS top mount and gain some spool back

No worries! They are very nice injectors and being that they are all stainless steel internals they should hold up well to the corrosive affects of E85, especially when you're not able to change back to pump gas very often or at all!

The ETS is a great top mount, great fit and the core is a Garrett and very efficient!

We've been working on the XTI and making some minor changes that are I think will prove to result in positive gains! I've been very busy with work but hope to get her to the track in the next month to see what kind of results she'll yield.

Bumping this thread as there has been a bunch of interest in my EWG exhaust and the new ID1300 injectors that I am running.

On another note we are massaging the tunes a bit more to smooth out the transition from vacuum to boost.

I did find that my Tial Q BOV with the -11 psi/ yellow spring was opening up at cold start idle and cruising in vacuum. I bought the newest and heaviest -12 psi/ brown spring for the valve and it is staying shut when it should now and only opening between shifts with more aggressive driving.

I did a quick 2nd gear pull/ log from 2500-6500 a couple weeks ago and it was spinning all 4 tires through around 4500 rpm's!

Default XTI supension and drive line

I've had some questions in other threads about my XTI's suspension and drive line so I thought I'd post a little more info here as I'm not sure I've talked about it in this thread.

I did my STI suspension and driveline swap in 2 phases. The suspension is from an 06 STI with the front cross member and steering rack with 20k miles from a buddy who bought a salvaged STI, suspension was perfect. I re-bushed all the pivots with Whiteline Poly street durometer, WL offset caster bushings in the LCA transverse mounts, free caster mod and we drilled all the pivots all the way thru the steel bushing for zirk fittings including all my Cobb sway bar mounts, everything gets greased with a synthetic/ graphite and or PTFE grease. NO squeaking!! I also installed the Whiteline ROC/ rollcenter kit. I also have Cobb 25mm anti sway bars and did the soft setting delete on the rear bar. I've been tweaking it almost every year. The latest was WL Com C tophats, max +caster/ max- camber and custom delrin 1/2" front TH spacers that I made. Plus H&R 15mm hub centric rear wheel spacers an extended studs and 5mm HC front spacers.

I did the drive-line the next year from an 07 with 12K miles, all the STI cross members, front cross member FXT spacer delete, swapped in the STI steering gear to steering column coupler (it's shorter), rear STI subframe, modded the rear STI CM, no rubber bushings all WL poly bushed, rear 04 STI knuckle and struts re-valved by Odi at Feal for my Swift Spec R springs. This year I replaced my oem STI drive shaft with a DSS carbon driveshaft. I also upgraded my axles since my left rear and front right STI axles were damaged, I installed DSS 800 HP rear axles and Level 5 front axles.

Because the Forester is an Impreza but is built a bit more like a truck it was designed with longer oem struts, front cross member spacers at 28mm thick and longer transverse mounts on the front suspension (ALK). When you delete the front cross member spacers it does a couple things. It give perfect STI drive line alignment when using all of the STI cross members, it also adds 1* of positive casters and help to correct or raise the roll center with the lower ride height of the STI struts/ springs.

When doing an STI conversion on these Foresters you have to deal with the added vertical height built into the chassis. You have the option to use the OEM struts and install Koni dampers in them or install STI struts or WRX struts or aftermarket KYB FXT struts or coilovers. I wanted to stay with fixed perch struts for the ride, quietness of them compared to C/O's and less maintenance. I chose to use the OEM STI struts as they are very high quality monotube dampers made by KYB so they are rebuildable and tunable. I went to Odi at Feal suspension and had him custom valve my STI struts for the Swift Spec R springs. The Swift Spec R springs are the 4th different spring that Ive had on my car, OEM FXT's, Swift FXT's, Swift STI Sport and then finally the Swift Spec R springs.

The other issue is how to deal with the ride height difference between the Forester and the STI. The Forester from the factory comes with taller tires than STI's so there is room in the wells for big tires, not super wide but tall. I wanted to run bigger tires and chose to use 245/45-18, 26.7" tall tires for the better ride, longer gearing and better grip with a bigger contact patch. When swapping in the STI struts you have to deal with the height difference from the FXT strut to the STI strut, then factor in the drop from the springs and either slam it down, not my style and no room for big tires or adjust the height. I have played with the height and finally settled on this combo for a 1 finger gap front and rear with my big tires. Rear I have 2 sets of .3875" TIC saggy butt spacers to equal .75" spacer height with Group N top hats and longer TH bolts to accommodate my Whiteline FXT quick release reat strut tower brace. In the front I have some .500" custom made by me Delrin top hat spacers and Whiteline Com C top hats, set max + caster and max - camber.

I've rolled all my fenders and I made a custom tool to assist with that job when I did that a few years ago. I still have to adress the rear fenders near the rear doors, they really square off there and there is about 2" that I need to roll over as I've made contact with my tires there on big suspension compression now that I have the 15mm rear wheel spacers on the car.

I'm very happy with the ride and handling of the XTI! The ride is firm for sure but not jarring or uncomfortable at all. The handling is very sharp, it's very neutral in its handling posture, its easy to invoke over-steer with hard turn in or throttle and there is little to no under-steer. I do have a bit more NVH with my suspension and drive line mods but it's not crazy at all and it makes it feel like it's a high performance car!

I'll see if I can scan and post up my last wheel alignment sheet to show what I'm running on the XTI. I can tell you this it's nothing like what a stock Forester XT comes with.

I will need to replace my tires in the spring and I narrowed my selection down to switch to either the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, Conti Extreme Contact DW, Dunlop Sport Maxx RT or the Mickey Thompson Street Comp.

One other note on the drive line, and front sub-frame fitment. When removing the FXT front cross member spacers it of course raises the front cross member, da! So when you try to install the FXT front (U shaped) sub-frame there will be a gap at 4 of the bolts that bolt the sub-frame to the cross member.

So I made some 28mm tall spacers out of 1" x .125" wall aluminum tubing to fill in for the missing spacer and bought some longer 10.9 metric grade bolts . Here are a couple photos, of the spacer and one installed.

Today was one of those amazing fall days in northern Michigan, mid 70's, windy and colors starting to turn, perfect for a mountain bike ride on some of the trails my buds and I cut at an old abandoned ski are near my house.

Thanks dude!

The manitou name stems from the islands off of the shoreline near where I live. Although I have used manitou suspensions, I have been on Rockshox and Fox suspensions for many years now. It's definitely for the mental hygiene and self medicating with endorphins

I have to share a pretty funny story. We had a big bday party for my girlfriends mom last weekend, they are of Slovenian descent and they have strong ties to their relatives in the old country. My GF's brother invited some of the relatives to come over for the party and 6 of them showed up. Ales who is married to my GF's counsin, comes from a fairly wealthy Slovenian family and owns the #8th Ferrari 599 GTB made.

He and I were looking at photos on his iPad and discussing the Pagani Zonda he had photos of and then his Ferrari. I asked Ales if he looked at my XTI and he said yes but they do not see many Subarus in their country or that part of Europe. I asked him a bit about his Ferrari and then how much power it made. He replied 600chp and he asked what my Forester made, when I told him almost 600whp he said can i take a closer look at it.

I got the keys and I was showing him the car and then asked him if he wanted to drive it. He drove it a few miles on the twisty's near the house, went WOT a bit, said the car was fast and then pulled over and asked me to drive it, so he could see what it is capable of. I obliged....of course and on the way back to the house he said; "You know my Ferrari is a sports car, it looks like a sports car, people expect it to be fast and it is. Your car does not look like a sports car, it's performance is amazing and very unexpected" He was blown away and said he now has a different perspective on Subaru's.

The XTI may have made another convert!
