Don't have a picture of the 08, but here's two of the diesel in matte orange. Turned out pretty swell.

Can't you just order from Dipyourcar.com?

That matte orange looks waaaaaay better than the image I had in my head when I read "matte orange" (x
Kudos!

Wow! I love plasti dip! So cheap and durable. I have had it on my car for a little over a year now and looks like I did it yesterday. That matte orange is so sick!

Just washed my pdipped wheels yesterday with plain ol' soap and water, then sprayed em with tire shine. Looks like new.

This thread continually makes me have ideas for what to do to my car...

One of these days when I get bored I might just go pick some up and see how creative I can get.

I'm going to have to try this. I think I'll try it on my side view mirrors which are faded as hell. Any guesses on how many cans it would take?

So I did my wheels in the vintage gold, 4-5 coats and then did another 3 coats of the glossifier. However the wheels seem "tacky".....so I was thinking, what if I went to the autoparts store and bought some clear coat used to spray over paint? Would this help cover up the tacky feel of the plasti dip/glossifier?

The reason for this is so it will be easier to remove brake dust.....and I plan on keeping them vintage gold, so I dont plan on removing the plasti dip.

Thanks

Don't do that. That's a bug no no in the world of dipping. If you do the dip will be hard to get off if not maybe even permanent. People just pressure wash or use the wheel cleaner on dipyourcar.com

I'm gonna dip my badges this weekend. I did them once already on the car, but didn't like how they turned out so I'm going to pull them off, dip them, and put them back on. What are some suggestions to reapply them? Double sided tape? Adhesive?

You can use a heat gun to "Cure" the dip, that will harden it up a bit and get rid of most of the tacky feel. I usually leave the wheels 24hrs after dipping, then 10mins of heat gun makes them feel almost like paint. I do this before putting the wheels back on to prevent damage when putting the wheel nuts on. Don't get too close with the heat gun you just want to cure it, not cook it. If you don't have a heat gun, they will cure in the sun over a longer period of time.

You can do clear coat over the dip, but it will make it a nightmare to remove. Instead of peeling big bits of dip, you will be removing it in tiny bits and it will take forever.

If you are going to dip them, you don't need to remove the badges.

What do you suggest peeling the excess off with? Just spray the badge area and then use a toothpick or something to get the excess off? Any suggestions for ensuring the badge dip doesn't come off?

I know I don't need to remove them, I did it once before without removing them, but I didn't like how it turned out. The tears weren't very clean and it was hard to get certain areas without massive over spray

Use a craft knife to cut around the edge of the badge, this will ensure a clean break. Then use a tooth pick or something with a point and a careful hand to remove excess.

Love the blaze yellow look, I am still torn, I want to do it, but like the white I have, and am very tempted with a custom gold I am playing with
