Default Sti with 20 G Turbo.. Can it take or keep up with 911 Turbo

I know a 996 Turbo is Rated at 415 crank Hp. 350 -360 awhp. Can a Sti with a 20 G keep up with one?
Thanks..

it would definitely be a good race. probably depend on the driver. I think the 911 turbo is in the high 11's stock, which is pretty rare for a 20g STi.

It's gonna be close but I'd still give the edge to the 911 Turbo. I've seen some run at the local drag strip here and even stock they run pretty consistent high 11s.

996 Turbo is faster then their spec say, I think they dyno at 400 whp stock, 12 flat or high 11s. Porsche don't mess around with one of their top model.

996 TT and STi have very similar weight, so I say a STi can hang with a 996 TT if it dyno somewhere close to 400 whp.

My friend drive a 996 TT as his daily driver, he street races everywhere, he say only really heavily modded EVO or STi can keep up with him.

More importantly, what kind of trap speeds do they run?

Time to think about the FP Red instead of the 20G

Maybe it was one with the X50 option I saw running 11s. Stock they trap 115-116.

i thought the 996 twin turbo weighed like 3600 lbs? i always thought they were kind of beefy cars, more of a "im gunna beat your face in on the highway" type car rather than a roadcourse assassin, saying that, a 20g wrx might hang in the 1/4, maybe on a roadcourse (depending on wrx suspension mods) and i say absolutly not on a highway run...

I have never seen a faster car on a roadcourse (autocross) than the 996 911 Twin Turbo....EVER.

the owner drove it and made a decent time. He handed the keys to an instructor. I had no idea the car had a loud BOV like that stock. The whole car looked on the verge of spinning out the whole run and it set the fastest lap time of the day and this was on stock tires competing against z06's on race tires and nationals quality drivers.

the car is simply the most bad ass thing on four wheels. period.

Porsche= more liters more turbos more tire. They have awd too. A green with race gas will do it! Gt30r too. I think a 20g on race gas will definitely break into 11's, so it could be done, but only on race gas.

If you really want to keep up you can always go with a 3.0l or 3.3l swap and a nice sized turbo of course.

Sure it would be a bitch to swap and set up, but hey performance has it's price.

Porsche definitely has the advantage....

yeah yeah, turbos are the replacement for displacement, but they have 2... and more displacement.

And so does a B5 S4, but an STi would slaughter one of those. So whats your point???

The 996 TT weighs about 3400lbs. Not saying the Porche would lose though. Just stating some facts.

ps- while we are on the topic http://www.nogaroblue.net/Videos/K16S4.avi

The compressor wheel is straight off a 996 TT. The K04 housing is from the audi RS6. FAST.

You may hang on the low end, but eventually the 170+ mph top speed will own you!! Not to mention that a 996 TT is much much (X10) more stable at high speed.

If you have around 350whp you will beat a 996tt under 100mph.

found 12.31 @ 120.63 here (for 2004):
