Default Anyone have some spare speaker adapter brackets?

I have some 5 1/2" speakers for the front and 4" speakers for the rear, and I need adapter brackets to install them. crutchfield has them for sale for $15 and $25, which just seems crazy to spend $40 on 4 pieces of plastic. So i was just wondering if anyone had some extras lying around they would want to sell.

The material to make them out of depends on your speakers and how much clearance you need. I have seem people use anything from plastic cutting boards to MDF. Do a search for "front components" or "component speakers" and you should find some threads where people posted pics of their installs.

you probably won't need spacers for the rear speakers... i put in 5.25" Alpines in the rear and just drilled right into the door with no problems at all. The windows don't go down that low

I made my spacers from plywood. I think I might have my 5.25" laying around since I never used them (Like I said, my 5.25" were going to be used in the rear but werent needed) Not sure of the mounting depth of your speakers, so I don't know if they'll work for you speakers or not. CletusTheDwarf: If I can find them, they're yours for the cost of packing and shipping if you want them... (especially since I can't guarantee if they'll work for your speakers)

alright. i called a local speaker shop to ask if they sold the brackets, and he didn't know what i was talking about. said he didn't have anything to go from a larger hole in a door to a smaller speaker...

MDF($6) + Jigsaw FTW!!!

<-- 6.5" MBQs in the front door, no long door pins needed

I can't find the link to the templates I used, but if you want to cut your own PM me and I can send you the PDF's for them. I can't take any credit, I found them on the boards here.
You'd just have to make the center hole smaller for the 5 1/2's
