86431VA620 while made by HK looks to be a non-nav radio that doesn't use an amp. Your 2017 limited probably has a nav radio with an amp. You could use it but I think you'd have to do extra wiring work and remove / bypass the amp.

I desperately want to get Apple CarPlay and I don’t like the aftermarket ones. I own a 2015 sti with a navigation unit and harman kardon stereo system. Is it possible to swap it with 2019 head unit? Or are the wires different on the back?

After doing some research, I believe youíre absolutely correct. Iíve returned the head unit, and Iíll continue to search for the right HK nav unit.

Thanks!

One plug has changed, and is why some folks are experiencing the unit not shutting off after turning the car off. '19 radio has a 12 pin connector input, and the 18's had an 8 pin plug. The 8 pin plug has 1 pink wire. That pink wire has to be moved over to match what would be a blue wire going to the 12 pin plug on the 19 radio. They are Sumitomo NH series connectors, available on Eastern Beaver. It would be an 8 pin male socket to a 12 pin female plug. Only the one wire is needed/present on the factory plugs.

You can either connect to acc, ground or the door trigger if you want it to stay on until the door opens. Any of the three work for turning off the radio to the pin once acc drops from the radio power harness.
I tried both acc and straight ground for turnoff and they both work the same. Didnít try the door trigger cause I donít want it to stay on with the ign off.
Sorry a little off topic, but does this mean the opposite is true for 2019 models? Is the pin noted in the 12 pin connector supplying accessory power until the door is opened or the timer runs out?

I have a 2019 WRX/STI with base audio that I upgraded yesterday to an Sony XAV-AX7000. I managed to save all the other features (back up camera, steering wheel controls) except retained accessory power (RAP). I miss RAP. I didn't even think about the 12 pin connector and what it does during the install, I just assumed it had something to do with SirusXM Į\_(._.)_/Į

The pin I tapped on the radio is the same one that the STARLINK feeds to. The light blue wire in the 12 pin in a 2019. You could always test that wire and see if it is RAP in your car and hook it up as your accessory to your radio if it gives that output. Might have to add a relay and just use it as a trigger. Iíd have to get into a 2019 with a meter to figure that all out or possibly find a RAP circuit.

So here's what I gathered testing today based off of what you told me:

The single light blue wire in the 12 pin connector supplies 12v power when the door is shut, dropping the voltage when it's open, but bring the voltage back when the door is shut again. In other words you can toggle the voltage on and off with the door switch.

Unfortunately wiring it as the accessory wire doesn't power on the radio

I was curious what'd happen if I wired the accessory and this wire together (which was really stupid in hindsight) and blew the Back Up fuse, which from what I gather is the Body Control Unit fuse

So yeah, nothing. Guess no RAP for the time being.

Pretty sure I could wire it up using two relays to separate and supply acc using the two different wires. (Acc and door trigger)

Or a relay and a couple diodes.
