I drove my buddy's stock wrx a few days ago and when I floored it from 2nd, it made me feel like I was riding a roller coaster( the ones with the sudden acceleration).. Literally made me feel sick for the few seconds lol. Is this a normal reaction for aomeone who has never driven a high hp car? If so, could someone else share their first experience? Is this feeling increased in a stock sti and then in a stage 2 sti?

Torque is fun. Stock WRXs don't have torque. That's why you need some v8 LS power in the garage too.

when i first got my car on the road, Jumping from an rs to wrx via swap, it felt like a rocket ship to me (never in anything faster), that soon wore off tho. All my friends that get rides say my car "tickles" and "feels like a rollercoaster". Its normal, then it wears off, and then your looking for more power so you can feel that sensation again, although it dosent REALLY come back.

That is the feeling of going beyond your "normal" senses. It happens when you go beyond anything, not just power. Then you get used to it and your measuring stick of life gets a little bit longer. There is a sense of scale to everything perceived, and for most of us, the measuring device we have created by our own experiences is vastly skewed and vastly limited.

Go ride around town slowly in a race car and you'll get nice and nauseous too. The sensation will way beyond what your mind thinks should happen. Then...you just get used to it.

My dad has a C5 Vette, it moves but the sensation is linear. Instant power so you're pushed back in your seat the same from 1500rpm all the way up to redline. The WRX power is more peaky once you hit boost. So even though you're not going terribly fast it's more noticeable when the power you do have decides to show up and is suddenly delivered.

My wife almost always wants to puke after I drop the hammer. I think it's hilarious, but she hates torque now.

Haha nah man you're not weird (well were all weird but its perspective haha)

But the first couple of weeks I had my car and was doing pulls, it was the best (coming from a 4runner) but I've had it for about 2 months now and the fun is starting to wear out and I'm scraping together funds to go stage 2. So enjoy it while it lasts!

Back road runner summed it up pretty nicely.

Ahhhhh, to be satisfied with stock power again...I can only imagine what you would say if you got a ride in a 500whp STi like I did...It changed my life.

A stock wrx feels punchy, a stage 2 tune, depending on how it's done, could actually make the power smoother, so it won't feel as sudden. It'll definitely be faster, but just not abrupt.
