Default restoring painted center caps on stock wheels (2004 WRX)

I wanted to thank the forums for inspiring me to repaint the peeling yellow center caps on the stock wheels of my 2004 WRX.

Through the forums I was able to find the correct paint (Dupli-Color wheel coating, Silver HWP101) at my local O'Reilly. I stripped what was left of the old paint with a scotch bright pad and acetone, cleaned the parts thoroughly with denatured alcohol, and sprayed on 3 coats. The color match is great and my wheels look brand new again.

I wanted to post some photos of the finished result along with the exact part number of the paint as I found it hard to find this when I did my original search.

Thanks again!

Thumbs up

Looks great. It's often amazing what a bit of elbow grease can do!

I know this is a big time necro-post, but did you also clear coat them or just use the Duplicolor Wheel Paint?

Pretty sure the factory wheels did NOT come clear coated, otherwise you'd see that peeling first, vs. just seeing the silver paint lifting off.

Need to do this to my 2002 WRX's wheels, the caps just started peeling badly last year.

I think you're right--and OP didn't mention it either.

I'll be painting mine this weekend!
