Arrow Knight's Stadium Autocross This Weekend!!!

Remember Knight's Stadium autocross is this weekend! Saturday and Sunday. Check out www.ccrsolo2.com for details. Also, I'm looking for a place to stay Saturday night if anyone know's a good place please post it. Also, would anyone be interested in going to Scarowinds (I think that's how you spell it) on Saturday night. I understand it runs from 7 til midnight and only cost $25. Let me know!

No go. I was in an accident today. My front bumper's fine, but I was rear-ended very hard and it's going to have to go into the shop.

Yeah, it's drivable, but it'd be a pain having to see the trunk fly open every so often.

You all enjoy it for me!

I got some baling twine out at the barn. Bring your Subey on out, we'll tie the trunk shut!

I made the test and tune session up at Knight's Staduim and I learned a few things:

1) I now know what it means to wander off-line and how slippery it is in those marbles.

2) Terminal understeer - I know exactly how bad it can be.

3) If you have a course with a plethora of left hand turns, expect your worn Dunlop W-10s to be corded on the right side in about 7 runs.

4) Without fail, timing and scoring will NOT get your best runs. I can only lay claim to two 48.2??, but I know I had two runs in the 47s.

5) A VR6 with 3 degrees negative camber, a little toe-out, and slicks sticks like glue to an autocross course (he posted mid to high 46s). Also, the rear tire compound on a VR6 is not important. The tires don't stay on the ground long enough to make any appreciable contribution to the run.

6) Steve can drive a Legacy, unfortunately he can't drive without a minimum of two passengers. Of course, with those two passengers he is hitting 48.2??. I shudder to think of how fast he would be without a bunch of fanatical Subaru fans hanging out the windows and sunroof.

7) Silver is a faster color then blue.

8) Hella driving light covers are worth two seconds.

I need to scrounge for some tires or else I wont be running next weekend. Had a great time.

Oh, where were the rest of you guys??????????

Regards,

Tim

Angry

I'm Pissed!!! I just wrote a long paragraph for this post and it had lots and lots of emotion. Therefore I used quite a few smiles. The system just told me it was sorry ,but it could not post it because it had to many images. But it could have just let me remove some and re-submit it. Nooo, it completly erased it! Don't use of 8 emotions in your posts or you'll have to go back and type the whole [email protected] thing again.

Ok! had to get that out. I'm going to give you the short version now that it's late and I'm tired.

Knights Stadium:
Sunday was faster than Saturday. My fastest time was a 44.7??, no passengers (Tim). My co-driver, Asheville resident, vw nut, ran a 46.0??. I told him if the tires weren't screaming bloody murder then he wasn't pushing it hard enough. Just ask Tim K, he knows exactly the breaking point of worn out street tires.

Sad Notes:
Note 1: My car is now 4 miles out of warranty.
Note 2: D flat.
Note 3: Note 2 was just a joke, no hidden meanings.
Note 4: On the way up the mountain I was doing some sprited driving with a Type R and my shifter jammed shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It broke free after playing with it a little bit. It seems to work fine now, but it was a bit nerve-racking and it caused us (my car and I) to look bad.

There, how's that, NO smiles in this post!!

Turk,

Its a proven fact that your best runs will always been done when they can't give you your times.

Steve dumped coffee on the keyboard on purpose. He knew I was about to rip off two consecutive 40 second runs.

Wink

I know it's a joke, but yes someone did spill their tea on the laptop, and no it was not me. I'm sorry we didn't get times for those runs. I hate it more than the people running when we miss times. When people don't get their times they tend to tell BIG fish stories.

Okay, okay, so Steve wasn't even in the van when the keyboard died... but it was still my best set of runs. I feel very confident they were both in the 47s. I swear!

From the sound of Tim's tires and the chatter, I'll back him up on that claim.

So, Tim, is it true that we are going to be driving 996's in the autocross this Saturday??

I still don't know what exact cars will be there. I do know they will be Porsches, and they will be heading to the crushers when we are done - so thrash them within an inch of their lives!!!!!!!
