Right out of my ass... or, maybe off of half the pumps around here and having read up about it for some debates before, usually about how we get piss poor 93 octane while some countries get 98 at the pump!?!? (93 AIK is ~98 RON)

Not asking you to, just asking you to explain how, when the entire country uses the same rating system, some gas rated at 93 will cause knock more than other gas rated at 93...

I don't know if the mix will make a difference or not. I'm asking if you do know what causes it? Answering it should take less time than posting back about how dumb I am.. that is, IF you have a real reason and it's a well understood one.

That is correct. Non ethonal is approx 20 cents more a gallon and when I ran a couple tanks full didn't notice any mpg difference from Chevron.

If you're not willing to educate someone who is genuinely interested, don't bitch and moan when they don't know what you're talking about

I'm sure there is plenty in this world I know that you don't and would enable me to point and laugh at you like a dumb ass as well.

I'm gonna revive this thread because I'm curious if anyone with a 08-11 NA Impreza has used Ethanol free gas and what the results were...
I've read some of the other threads related to this and from what people have been saying I conclude: Ethanol free offers better MPG and in some cases better power than 10% Ethanol. However, some people have also put they notice no significant difference.

To be blunt, I don't think it will really matter because you won't find ethanol free gas anywhere but at a marina or race track.

Any modern car(within 10 years old) is built to withstand the degradation of rubber components associated with ethanol. Will ethanol free gas net you higher MPG's? Probably, but finding it and buying it will cost more than it's worth.

Actually there are a few ethanol free stations when I travel from Denver to Dallas. There is a website that lists all of them in the US, I believe there's over 11,000 stations in the country.
