Default Cobb Stage 2 91 or 93 Map in OR/WA

Did a search in the NW forum and came up empty. Just installed my Cobb AP and running the OTS Stage 2 93 map is this safe or should I be running the 91oct map? Has anyone had knock or detonation using the 93 map?

Just curious what you other local stage 2 people are running.

Thanks

Use the map for the gas you have.

Meaning, use 91. This isn't an issue of "can i use 87 in a wrx lol just this once" -- the maps are tuned to each gas for a reason.

There's only a 5hp difference anyway.

I was running the 91 Stg. 2 map. But then I got a map from PDX made for 92 octane, so all better now.

Yeah use the 91 map. That way you can think of the extra octane as bonus knock protection.

There are a few of us running around running the 93 stage 2 map on 92. None of us have had any issues.

That's good to hear, mine seems to run real good I switched to the realtime map for 91 and the car doesn't seem as smooth. For those running the 93 on 92 gas, are you guys using anything besides the ECU to listen for knock?

No I had seen the map notes for th stage 2 91 or 93. I just read the user manual and followed th directions. I just used the maps that were loaded, looks like I need to head to Cobb's website and read these notes, thanks.

BTW anyone know where they sell 93 Octane in SW WA or PDX area?

Yup. and after driving cross country twice with my AP setup, I had to run both maps (RT) as gas octane changed from state to state. Running a 91 map with 92 fuel is what you need to do to be kind to your car.

Cenex in Tacoma has 94 octane.

The Cobb maps are pretty conservative. The stage 1 (93 oct) map doesn't make any more power than stock. 200/200 Didn't check the 91 octane map though.

Yeah I finally got the map notes and read them today. It looks the same for the stage 2, no more HP than the 91 map. I was really just asking because I flashed the Stage 2 93 map and then realized that it was for 93 or >

Didn't really want to flash the ECU again as I had a hell of a time with the first flash and almost fried my ECU Right now I am running the realtime Stage 2 91 map. But I guess I'll be flashing it again with the 91 map. at least I know how it works this time

So does anyone know anywhere around PDX or SW washington that sells >92 octane?

Doug's auto row in Auburn sells 100 oct unleaded at the pump as well, along with VP 112 leaded
