Radiator Go Bye-Bye?? **w/ Pics
So I noticed last night sitting in the Bojangles drive through that smoke/steam started to pour out of the hood. Once I got my food, I pulled over and popped the hood. This is what I discovered:
There is coolant EVERYWHERE. I think there is a hairline crack on top front side of the radiator. I couldn't get a clear picture of it, but at one point, it was shooting coolant out of a very pin-sized hole. Where do I go from here? |

Mine did the same just a few days ago also. Its cracked in the front right in front of where the top hose comes out to go to the motor. I ordered this one.... its gotten pretty good reviews so far and it doesn't have the extra cap like the new ones do so you don't need the extra parts to make it work.... Its all aluminum so you don't have to worry about the plastic cracking or separating from the core like the stock one does.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem= It seems like a really fair price considering a new plastic one is 260 |

mine got pretty warm once too but if you keep it filled it will be ok just make sure to watch that gauge
I guess these do cool better then stock so they really are a pretty good deal. As long as they last a few years lol |

^^^ That's the one I got when mine assploded. It won't crack, it's larger than stock (so you'll have to cut the upper and lower hose slightly, no biggie), and the fitment is PERFECT.
I got it for less than $200 shipped, better than stock for way less FTW |

yeah i have been hearing good things about it too. Mine was 160 shipped so i thought that was great. It wont separate or crack and you can still use your stock fans Seems like the logical choice for those of us on a budget for sure!

And it looks nice too. I have to go pick up some tequila and margarita mix, when I get back I can snap some pictures if you'd like.

That's good to hear. Yea, I'm definitely not happy with the car right now lol It seems to be one thing after another lately. I'll look around for the radiator on ebay and see if I can find one cheap. Do you have to get a new trans cooler though? I remember reading something about ours being built in or something...

no i am pretty sure ours don't have anything like that....unless you have an Auto then it may be an issue. But 5 speed its a direct swap. Just make sure when you go on ebay that you get the same one your car has they make the radiator with a cap and one with out. 2002 and early 2003s have just the cap up on the motor the newer 2004 and up have a cap on the radiator AND the motor.
My car has been a pain in mt @$$ latley too buddy!!!! Sometime want to burn it. But this is a pretty cheap fix and DIY for sure so...... |

The one your looking at is one with the cap. Does your stock one have a cap or no?
If not try this one..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem= |

I hear ya man. I take care of my car, and in the last few months I've been dealing with 1.Cracked headers 2.Cracked raiator 3.Noisy clutch throw-out bearing 4.Worn-out motor mounts 5.Bad A/F sensor 6.Constant misfires because of the cracked header (A/F trying to compensate for more air being drawn in by dumping more fuel, causing it to stumble) Hmmmm, what else.... |

Yea it only has the one up near the intercooler. I guess I'll go ahead and buy that one and use this bars-all I picked up to try and seal off the leak for now. Should I get some new hoses too? Like Samco or something? Or will the stock ones do the trick for now.

i would be carefull with the radiator leak fix stuff man. im not gonna drive mine till the new radiator comes in. That stuff may clog up other things you don't want it to.
Stock hoses will need to be trimmed but should be fine unless there really dry and cracking. Im reusing mine for now. |

The radiator leak fixes don't do a damn thing. Park the car and order a new radiator. The shipping on mine was relatively quick.

so the aftermarket radiators weigh more?? Oh well i like the idea of being alot tougher
I drive in the woods alot and we get alot of snow both which can damage radiators so beef it up IMO |

coolant, clutch and trans fluid are not my thing, but gas is great. Race gas for sure especially race gas in a car with no cats. A few months back my budy had some left over from racing crotch rockets and it was gonna go bad so he gave me like 12 gallons...... that was great

Same thing happened to me. I noticed the sweet smell of burning coolant, but didn't think to check under the hood until I saw my temps shoot up. I ended up ordering the Koyo replacement on ebay and decided against an aftermarket radiator to save weight. (Its a DD)

It is a nice smell, isn't it? Call me weird, but I like the smell of transmission fluid, coolant, and burnt clutch- as long as it's not coming from MY car But there's nothing like the smell of race gas in the morning |

The weight difference is negligible, I compared the two upon removal and it was hardly noticeable. But it's DEFINITELY more stout than the OEM plastic crap.
