Seit 2018 fährt der BMW X2 als schickere Version des X1 auf der Straße. Das Kompakt-SUV-Coupé sollte damals vor allem jüngeres Publikum erreichen und erhielt dazu sogar typische Designelemente legendärer BMW-Coupés. Mit der nächsten Generation des X1 2022 würde auch die Basis für einen neuen X2 geschaffen werden. Dieser könnte ein Jahr später 2023 präsentiert werden. Wie er aussehen könnte, hat der AUTO BILD Illustrator in seiner Zeichnung bereits festgehalten.
BMW X2 wird wuchtiger
Bulliger würde er mit Sicherheit werden, der neue X2. Das macht sich vor allem an der Front bemerkbar. Die deutlich größere Niere nähert sich von der Form her an die Markengeschwister an und geht in M3- und M4-Manier in die Motorhaube über. Auch die Lufteinlässe in der Schürze könnten zumindest mit M-Paket noch etwas mächtiger ausfallen. Im Kontrast dazu würde der BMW X2 in der kommenden Generation schmale Leuchten erhalten, die die Tagfahrlichter beherbergen. Eine Etage darunter befindet sich der Leuchtenträger mit den serienmäßigen LED-Scheinwerfern – dieses Layout kennen wir bereits vom iX und auch Erlkönige des X8 ließen unter der Tarnung diese Anordnung der Leuchten vermuten. Möglicherweise ist das das neue SUV-Gesicht von BMW. An der Seite fallen die vom BMW iX inspirierten Türgriffe auf, die eigentlich nur noch Griffmulden in den Türen sind. Die C-Säule darf auch in der zweiten Generation des X2 die vom der Coupé-Baureihe E9 inspirierten BMW Logos tragen.
Auch ein elektrischer iX2 denkbar
Wie ein möglicher X2-Nachfolger motorisiert sein wird, ist noch rein spekulativ. Allerdings wäre ein zweigleisiger Ansatz wie beim aktuellen X3 und iX3 denkbar. Als konventionell betriebene Version, wie sie in der Illustration zu sehen ist, kommen wohl Drei- und Vierzylinder Turbomotoren mit 48-Volt Unterstützung zum Einsatz. Ein Plug-in-Hybrid gilt ebenso als gesetzt. Aber auch ein vollelektrischer iX2 könnte vom BMW-Vorstand abgesegnet werden. The BMW X2 has been on the road as a fancier version of the X1 since 2018. At the time, the compact SUV coupé was primarily intended to reach a younger audience and was even given the typical design elements of legendary BMW coupés. With the next generation of the X1 2022, the basis for a new X2 would also be created. This could be presented a year later in 2023. The AUTO BILD illustrator has already recorded what it might look like in his drawing.
BMW X2 is getting bigger
The new X2 would definitely be more beefy. This is particularly noticeable at the front. The shape of the significantly larger kidney is similar to that of the brand siblings and merges into the bonnet in M3 and M4 fashion. The air inlets in the apron could also be a bit more powerful, at least with the M package. In contrast, the next generation of the BMW X2 would have narrow lights that house the daytime running lights. One floor below is the light carrier with the standard LED headlights - we already know this layout from the iX and also the spy kings of the X8 suggested this arrangement of the lights under the camouflage. Possibly this is BMW's new SUV face. On the side, the door handles inspired by the BMW iX stand out, which are actually just recessed grips in the doors. Even in the second generation of the X2, the C-pillar can bear the BMW logos inspired by the E9 coupe series.
An electric iX2 is also conceivable
How a possible X2 successor will be motorized is still purely speculative. However, a two-pronged approach like the current X3 and iX3 would be conceivable. As a conventionally operated version, as can be seen in the illustration, three- and four-cylinder turbo engines with 48-volt support are used. A plug-in hybrid is also considered set. But a fully electric iX2 could also be approved by the BMW board. It would secure the future of the X2 and meet the urban demands of the compact Munich.
