Default The Shop CT Junior Tuned 05 vf34

This past weekend i had the chance to get my05 wrx tuned down at the shop by Junior. Definitely a cool place and cool people. The donuts were pretty bad ass too. Previously I had been tuned at another shop and put down 280 Hp and 265 Tq at a little over 18 psi. on a dyno dynamics. I decided to go with a catless downpipe and a set of grimmspeed manifolds with crossover pipe. My baseline pull at The Shop was 286 HP and 268 Tq. We then removed the Snorkus in the stock air box and did another pull and gained 10 Hp. Before the tune my prodive boost contoller was swapped out for a manual one. Final numbers after Junior worked his magic were 310 Hp and 320 Tq at 22 psi! Spool comes on much faster. The new HP actually overlaps my old tq curve as the turbo spools. So Much more area under the curve and still makes 300 Hp and 220 tq at redline. Juniors said we probably could of squeezed out a couple more Hp, but i was running out injector.

Mods list:
2005 wrx 27000 miles
Snorkus delete AFE drop in filter
Invidia uppipe and catless downpipe
Maddad Catback
vf 34 turbo
grimmspeed ported manifolds with crossover
06 injectors
Spearco top mount
one step colder plugs
manual boost contoller
fuel pump
Andrewtech PPG close ratio gear set.
Act stage 1 clutch

Wow, great numbers! Any particular reason you switched tuners? Just curious...
A bit tough to say the reason for the gains, isnt it? 4 more psi of boost plus ported exhaust manifold should net you a nice chunk of power and a huge increase in torque. Also the MBC and exhaust manifold can/will get the turbo to spool faster.

Its a no brainer why i switched Tuners. Junior does good work! My old tuner told me my car was happy at 18.3 psi and would not push it any harder. Yes ported manifolds and catless downpipe make more power, but i know my old tuner would not have gotten this kind of power out of my set up. This thing rips!

Thats cool, I was not questioning your reason, just curious what would make somone switch. You were not happy with power and thought there was more to be had. Reason enough Enjoy your new found power.

I happened by The Shop, checking on my own progress when this tune was underway. Yes, it not only made more power and torque, but Jimmy and Junior both agreed the AFR was safer than before they touched it. It's having your cake and eating it, too.

Congrats!
