Default catless up pipe issue?

I just had my Invidia catless up pipe on my 02 wrx. My problem is that it's loud. Way too loud. Is it normal? Or might have the installer not tightened the pipe enough?

ok so what you want to look for is...if you have a boost gauge are you reaching peak boost, if no you have a leak...if no boost gauge turn on the car and check the flanges for leakes, just move your hand over the joints and if really hot air comes out then theres a leak...you can also listen for the leak

Ok thanks. I thought it might be a leak. Ill check when i get a chance. So its not normal for a lot of noise to come from the up pipe it's self?

The only thing you should hear from a catless up pipe is a touch more "turbo" noise. (the whine) if anything at all. If you hear a loud noise, you have a leak.

I have an Invidia uppipe with the same issues. It's loud, but it is building boost. I've felt every coonection for escaping hot air...nothing. But when I'm driving the car or even when my wife drives the car past me, I can hear the turbo whine quite clearly. Also, when given a lot of gas, the turbo sounds "fluttery", sorry, can't quite decribe the sound but it has a fluttering sound to it. I used all new gaskets except the exhaust manifild gasket to the crossover pipe. I think it might be leaking from the catless downpipe to the rest of the exhaust system (installed DP at the same time as the UP).
