Post 99RS recall problem

HI. I have a general question about MAF sensor. I changed MAF sensor due to the recall of MY99 impreza 2.5RS. After the replacement, the car doesn't idle properly. Especially, If I turn on Air conditioner, the engine often stops. I think the MAF sensor doesn't work properly or CPU of car doesn't learn the new condition yet. Therefore, it causes "hesitation." From a technical aspect, Can a car run with non-working MAF or without data from MAF sensor? I really need help. Thank you so much.

Yes, it can. I have disconnected the MAF sensor for a while and the engine ran OK (of course the CEL came up).

My guess is that you have a problem with one of the vacuum tubes comming from the TB to the intake tubing. If I disconnect them, the engine barely runs; you may have a smaller leak...
