Something that'd be different and cheap is doing side and rear window ala 'RallyRaid/Dakar' style.

Better security of valuables in hatch if you ever leave any unattendend as they can't see them and less greenhouse effect heat in summer. Obvoius disadvantage is visibility while driving but no worse than a cube van.

I'd say, unless your car is way modded or special to you in some way, it'd be better just to go but another car already the color you like.
My advice, don't be so put off by a slightly silly picture. The man could have some valuable advice to give. Seeing that he just might have a little experience with vehicle restoration. Just saying....

I understand on pulling the engine and completly tearing apart every is an option yeah, But why go and buy a whole nother car because of the paint. Paint the engine bay black and door jams etc. then paint it what ever color you want it will still match and look good!

Buying a new car didn't seem like a good idea to me either. I'm also in the market for new paint on my wagon and will probably have the engine bay painted gloss black like most people do but i figure if i have to pull the engine to do that I might as well pay the extra cash to get the undercarriage and engine bay all color matched as well. What are you looking at spending? I'm also interested in seeing what your price quote is. I'm just guessing a full body paint including door jams, engine bay and fully protected undercarriage is probably going to cost me around 7-12. Not to mention finding a paint and body shop that's credible.

Who said I did bodywork? I don't. And don't paint either. Read my second post in thread. Being a comedian its funny that majority of my customers are Mercedes and Aston Martins suggested in this thread which we sell new.

Point is I'm in the industry and you can take my advice or you can take imprezagirl06's who doesn't know they'll mask your wheels.

I don't fix total losses. I sell them for salvage. And none of my cars have been wreaked.

Questions are right here:

Unless you are spending more than $1500 in paint material alone for an all-over on a wagon (more for multi-stage job), you're going to be hating it in just a couple years when its no longer sticking to your current paint, you've got tape lines and overspray on all your unpainted trim. $5000 for a decent job, much more if you're are paying them to R&I drivetrain and risking them butchering it or do have time to do yourself and deliver shell to paintshop. Sure Maaco can do for less, but down the road, your car is going to look like it.

Most decent collision shops won't take on an all-over. I won't. Any insurance claim is more profitable w/ less headaches even at insurance labor rates and having to deal w/ their adjusters. Custom paint and restoration shops which do all-overs rightfully charge more.

So who is painting it?

I still bet this thread is going nowhere. You can't even choose a color yourself. Prove me wrong. Post pics of your pumpkin when its done.

Ok thats fine call it what you want I could care less. I will if i decide to do it orange or white or black. Either color i like. The post was for suggestions on a color of paint for my car. Not for people to trash talk what color i decide to do. Not your car i could care less bout your off the wall ( Just dumb ) comments. It dosent matter who does it. It will be my choice. Not that i cant choose one for my self im getting ideas from people what they would do so i DO NOT do the same!!! Hence the actual topic im tired of seeing the same color cars.

To you my friend my conversation is over with you thanks.

Im not looking to spend all that much. No undercarriage painting for me. I take my car thru the mudd, Just a different color then silver, I will be doing the door jams and trunk. Idk bout the engine bay at the moment. Black is always an option.

Dude, I just saw like 7 WRX's in the local body shop getting painted that lambo orange after you posted those pics! Now everyone's gonna have a lambo orange WRX wagon!

Haha! J/k! So I didn't know you were painting your car. As you're well aware, my car is currently getting painted, although for the wrong reason. I still haven't gotten her back from the body shop. I'm hoping this week but most likely next week. I heard that pearl white color is tough to match but the shop assured me they would do it and it would be spotless. Guess we'll see...

Anyway, good luck on the painting!
