![]() Hey Luke,
I bought some Kuhmo Exsta's Last Fall from the Totem Lake Discount Tire. I have less than 10K on them. I hit a pothole the other night and I now have a lovely new blister on the sidewall.....Is this a warranty issue? These are UniDirectional tires..Do I have to replace all four or Can I replace just one? Help!!!! ![]() Last edited by phantom; 03-19-2002 at 01:53 PM. |

![]() The blister on the sidewall means the belting on the tire has broken. I can't say about Tirerack warrantying it, but don't drive on that tire!

![]() why is it that no one can call Luke toll free, but instead they must all post ATTN: Luke or some crap like this. Like he doesn't have enough to do outside of the I-club. All the vendors on here do have more things than the I-club.
Sorry to rant.. I feel better now. Jon |

![]() a third-party roadhazzard warranty or possibly your insurance (if you opt for roadhazzard coverage) will help. no manufacturer warranty will though...
subaru's official tolerance for tire circumference varience is 1/4", which isn't squat. so then you should replace 2 tires, unless there is significant wear in which case you'll have to replace all four. I've worn out summer tires in 10k, but I've never had 712s. the only time you can safely replace just one is if the tire on that axle and preferable all the other 3 tires are barely worn. |

![]() Here's what I think .... Kumho does not have a warranty to cover roafd hazzard (no manufacturer does). Totem Lake where you purchased your tires may have sold you "road hazzard insurance" which would cover this problem. You should contact them if that is the case. You did not purchase the tires from The Tire Rack .... we do not offer the road hazzard insurance. As far as, how many to replace measure your tread depth and if you have more than 10/32" replace 1 tire. If you have 9/32" or less replace 2 tires. If you have less than 6/32" replace all 4 tires

![]() I hit a pot hole with my VW. ruined the tire and bent the rim (bad). The township which the pot hole was in paid for a new tire. Alot of paperwork and about 2 months later. Kinda not worth it.

With an AWD car, I would be more careful about replacing just one of the tires. There was an issue a while back in the UK, when 2 tires of the same type on the same car caused issues because they were manufactured at 2 different plants, with slightly different quantity of the compounds used, that resulted in a slightly different level of grip among the tires. If you have worn the tires quite a bit, then yes, I would ask you to replace all 4 of them, since otherwise the differentials would heat up quite a bit trying to compensate for the differences in the overall diameters of the worn/new tires. ![]() I'd just like all the search nazis on this site to know that rather than post a new thread, I searched out my problem and found a solution.
![]() BUMP Some idiot dropped a piece of prefabricated wood fence in the middle of the freeway. The color blended in perfectly with the road surface and I was able to swerve at the last minute to avoid major suspension damage. However, I now have a sidewall blister on tires which are no longer made. ![]() Time to shop for some new summer meats... |
