![]() So is Subaru's website broken, or did the 2017 BRZ suddenly and silently get a CVT? I can find less than zero news about a BRZ with a CVT... so either their website is broken or I just discovered nearly unbelievable news.

![]() WRX CVT has overheating problems just as the other Subaru CVTs do. I can see overheating driving for hours at 90mph on the 2.0i, because really most people shouldn't be buying it as a cross country high speed car. But it doesn't belong on a performance vehicle. It better have upgraded cooling on the BRZ, otherwise Subaru will prove they've learned nothing.

![]() We've seen several CVTs blow up here, the latest at just under 100K. Have any been successfully repaired?
It seems they are throwaway items, and not exactly cheap. |

![]() All auto transmissions are "throwaway". They give you a rebuilt trans from Japan or wherever, and send yours to a specialist to be rebuilt and sold to someone else.
For the several CVTs we've seen blow up here, a good 100+ regular WRX autos have blown up most likely. I don't think they're that unreliable, just slow and expensive. |

![]() AFAIK, Subaru pretty much wants us to kill the CVT, and when it does, they will give you a new CVT as they want your old dead CVT to inspect it for issues to revise the current CVT.... Especially since it is a new type of CVT for Subaru...

![]() Hey guys, i need your advice. I took my 15 subaru impreza with 20K hatch today to the dealer for a leak in the passenger side footwell/floor. I noticed a good amount of water this past weekend on the floor when it rained here in NY. This is the second time this happened to me. Both times happened when they was rain.
I dropped my car off for service this morning at Rye Subaru and advisor told me might be a ac line clog and that they will charge me $60 to fix it. He told me this is a maintenance issue and not a warranty issue? Is this true? I already had previous issue with this dealer when I took my car in for its first oil change and the dealer put a dent in my door. They fixed the issue but never really apologized for it. Also, been having an issue with my passenger side dash grill (for the tweeter). It seems to pop up and not sit correctly. I have set it back in place and after a few days of driving it pops back up (just one corner). I explained the issue to the dealer and he asked me if I had a remote start which I stated yes, then asked if it was OEM which I said no. He said that could be the issue becuase they have to access speakers to install the remote start. Thats when I stopped him right there and said absolutely not, and he then asked me if I watched them install it and I told him yes. I feel like this dealer is jerking me around and it going to try and bang me over the head. The speaker grill is obviously a defect because its not sitting correctly and this advisor is already blaming the remote start I had installed. Has anyone experienced issues with a water leak on passenger side floor? Can they really say its a maintenance issue and not cover it under warranty? Please help guys as I want to go there prepared to battle and Im not taking no for an answer. Only reason I took the car to the dealer is because its a lease and figured its a warranty issue. |

![]() No. Get mad (stay polite though) when you talk to him, and if he won't **** off, tell him you're going to call Subaru of America. I never had good luck with SoA, but everyone else seems to.
There's no scheduled HVAC maintenance other than the filter by 20,000 miles, and there's no way to connect the cabin air filter to a leak in the floor. |

Well he said the issue might be a clog in some drainage line due to debris from leaves and such. He then asked me how often I washed the car, which I stated once or twice a month causing him to give me a puzzled looked. You know when you first meet someone and you getting that feeling or they just rub you the wrong way. Well this guy does that for me. I feel that I shouldn't have to pay for clogged lines due to design issue causing it to clog so easy especially since he car is two years old and doesn't even have 20K yet. |

![]() He's full of pig ****, bumper to bumper is 3/36 and covers *everything*. Light bulbs, wipers, plastic trim, etc. I don't think it covers tires but most tires have their own warranty. Unless you take a bat to you windshield, it's supposed to cover any issues.
Are there any other dealers in your area? |

Speaker grille, that's interesting. Did you ever remove that grille? No, I haven't had issues with water leaking at all in the car. I'm not sure I can say this is warrantied item as well, but you can try to argue it especially since you are at 20k and that is a manuf. defect. The dealer sounds like a headache to deal with. Email Subaru of America and file a complaint. Also, try another dealer in your area. This dude sounds like a complete idiot to be even talking with so try getting the service manager. Personally, I wouldn't have gone back to this dealer especially if they put a dent in my car and didn't really apologize for it. Last edited by theoutbackdream; 05-16-2017 at 04:44 PM. |

![]() How can the AC not be a warranty item? Bumper to bumper = everything, and there's no way the AC system should fail in any way before the 3/36 warranty is up, unless you deliberately mess it up.

This is clearly a body defect and not due to owner neglect. Water will accumulate on the evaporator in anything but 0% humidity. This dealer does not want the work and will probably not be good to your car. |

![]() I thought so too, but I read somewhere a long time ago that AC can sometimes fall under a wear and tear item that isn't covered by warranty(which is pretty stupid). Which is why I say usually AC is not a warrantied item.

![]() I'm sure SoA could be convinced to help out at the least though, if not cover it entirely. They told me to eat a dick when I had the CVT overheat issue, but everyone else seems to love them.

![]() I don't like Rye Ford Subaru ( dumb a&&he's ). If you get water on the floor again, pull the carpet back look for a black hose going though the floor. Pull it up and blow air though it.
It can get clogged , it's the same for all Subarus. |

![]() I'm getting about 31mpg on my current tank with mixed city and highway. The light timing here is just absurd, and people can't drive so I find myself having to brake even if I'm as careful as anyone could possibly be. Short of running red lights I don't think my MPG will ever get any higher.

![]() City is so dependent on lights/traffic you aren't really going to do much better than that.
Since I've owned my car, about 15k miles my overall mpg is 33.6 that includes all driving. This car can get good mileage just most people don't see the right conditions for it. |

![]() Hot weather definitely helps, even just in the 50s and my MPG tanks unless I'm going for a very long drive where warmup is significant. And even then, it seems to never quite get where it should be. Probably harder to move cool, wet air over the car, colder differential fluid and all that.
