You're right and... I was serious. I know what Subarus are made of and never question that but it does irritate me that a car a days should be built with minimal cosmetic flaws. Small things like the key thing not centered tells me that there might be something else in the car neglected that is bigger. I.E. Maybe something like the MC was neglected and now its been recalled which affected the sales and productions. If this was Roman Empire time, I'd ask myself do I buy the horses with the golden chariot with smooth ivory wheels or do I buy a pure breed stallion that can do anything from racing to hauling but its ears have been cut off. lol wouldn't that frustrate you?!

Said that, I went in today to finally sit in a limited, it wasn't a sport limited but it was close enough. It was very nice and I felt very comfortable. The interior looked very clean, simple, and easy on the eyes. The visor wasn't that bad either as others have said. I'm going to wait for my car.

...And I will be looking into buying a BMW in the future. Specifically the M3.

i ordered the same lights from the link you provided and it does not fit in the area you have them installed in. the width is OK but the height in way too tight and presses against the plastic making it bend a little. as the warning states in the instruction manual, i would think the heat would start to melt the plastic on the car.

We the fortune to tour the BMW factory in Greenville SC two weeks ago. It was a great expereince and yes, I too would like a BMW, but probably could not afford the insurance, much less the payments! That said we were very happy to pick up our new CRP limited today. I reset the MPG meter at the dealer and drove it about 36 miles on mostly in town freeways. The gauge shows 34MPG average - I am happy with that so far! What really makes me happy is that my wife really likes it, especially the visibility.
We never did receive the $500 "gift" certificate or email from SOA, but the dealer just added $500 dollars to our down payment and let us pick the accessories we wanted.
It took about 5 minutes to get used to the CVT and the steering (it is different!)

The Bad:

I had many email interactions with SOA about this, and they told me to bring it back to the dealer again for a more thorough examination. Again they came back to me and said the airbag system didn't have any codes and that the system was fully operational. Brought the car home and washed it, an hour later I found condensation in both front headlights and one of the rear taillights - not a happy camper. I was told that since there were no codes and they couldn't replicate the problem and the airbag system is functional. A week later goes by, and I got the airbag light on AGAIN. This time I took it to the dealership and they scanned for codes and found that there is something wrong with the passenger seat.

All this has put a bad taste in my mouth, I was told the car was fine when it in fact wasn't, I even documented EVERYTHING and took pictures.

So my car is at the dealership right now waiting for multiple repairs, the airbag system issue, the two headlights and rear taillight, the trip computer - and the car only has 500 miles on it. I have spent 10+ hours on the phone/email and at the dealership trying to deal with multiple problems with a car that is BRAND NEW. Oh I forgot to mention that when I got the car I noticed there were scratches on the trip computer.

I was elated when I found out I was one of the first in the country to take ownership of my '12 Impreza (I know there was that lady that got hers first), but with the past three weeks of dealing with these issues, I have a real sour taste in my mouth. So sour that after three new Subarus ('05 STi, '08 STI, '12 Impreza), this may be my last. Thank you for listening </rant>

SOA I hope you read this.

Does your state have a lemon law? Might be worth looking into.

It sounds like they have fixed everything for free though, and it sounds like you need to find a new dealer.

As much crap as I haul around in a weeks time. That would get old in about a month! LOL After the second time of removing and re-installing the back seat in my Jeep. I finally just left it the back of the garage and only put in back in when I need to haul people.

You would be a perfect BMW owner. Too bad you can't practice double parking in handicapped spots in your Impreza.

Seriously though, even with the marked improvements to the Impeza line, it's still a cheap car by all other standards. You are going to spend literally twice as much for a BMW, but I think you'll be pleased now matter how the car is because BMW owners are always pleased with themselves. It's an expensive proposition not to be.

insurance is not always higher with a BMW vs Honda, VW, Acura, Subaru...etc I've had several BMWs (new & pre-owned) in the past and the insurance rates were actually lower (approx100-150/yr) than the other cars i mentioned above. the /12 Impreza i just got is about $50-75 more per year than the '08 BMW 135i lease i returned.

I read that this forum advise us to tell the dealer not to put dealer badges and do not mount license plates

Is the front license holes pre-drilled at the factory? What if you live in VA/DC where front license is required? I'm just wondering what I should tell the dealer as my car is being factory ordered

I demanded that they not be drilled until they install the Front Plate Bracket. I do not like the look of the plates mounted directly on the bumper. I also demanded that the NO Dealer Stickers were to be applied to the car. I will look at possible color combinations and placement options before I decide if the sticker will be applied.

Call your Insurance company and make sure that you new car is not listed in their database as a WRX. There have been a few snafu's reported regarding VIN mapping at some Insurance companies (USAA being one).

I really want this spoiler but my dealer says it's not available yet. But they seem to have no idea what it's called or when it will be ready.


I see that many people have this spoiler on their sport premium. Did you guys order it special? What is the official name of it so I can tell my dealer?

It's the optional rear spoiler. That's all I know of it being called, check the link and you will see the different options.

Just curious who at your dealer couldn't find the spoiler, was it just a sales person who may not have been motivated to go bug the parts department / service department (for something that doesn't pay him a check especially if you asked after Parts dept was closed)? Paying attention to details like this after the sale should determine which dealership keeps your service business for sure... Typically, you can find good deals with one one of the SOA parts distributors on this site and order it yourself and then confirm an installation price with the dealer if it's not a DIY job. At the very least, you now have that price in your back pocket from the link above.

If your dealer tries to charge something exhorbitant to order and install it, then that's pretty good confirmation to find another dealer for service or find a good aftermarket parts shop that can do the installs for you. I've had good luck using shops who do aftermarket installs of leather and more advanced interior work who also do installs of spoilers/side trim pieces, etc. They tend to have more skilled techs who know more than your exterior "fender and paint" type of aftermarket shop...

Mine came with pre-drilled (actually punched or formed) openings. I say openings because they are huge! Actually they are just large...

There are pre-punched holes that will align exactly with the Front Plate bracket; however, will not properly align with a license plate.

The thing that blows my mind. I quoted a Outback as well as an Impreza. The Outback was about $150 cheaper every 6 than an Impreza.
