Its kinda intimidating seeing everyone else post for other subies and not yours, but you have to think about the cause (support for breast cancer and female power). I look at it this way.. Even tho my car isn't as nice as others like rumbles.. I'm still going to be happy even if I dont get any votes, because I tried for a good cause and still love my car because its unique to me because it my car in the end that I will always love.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense. I just think no quiting, just like trying to find a cure. Never give up hope you never know what could happen.

Not only all of the above, we're also representing all the females in the community and showing that badass cars aren't just for the guys. Plus it shows all the other ladies out there what they can do with theirs if they want to.

No worries, no one likes me either (yet)!!!

And drivers like Amy and Karen (and a few others who SHOULD be posting in here) are women I aspire to be/drive like!

Well said. I'm not gonna lie. I only posted because of Scoobies for Boobies which as we all can see I support fully. We all know Top Scoob is one giant popularity contest.

That's all I'm gonna say for now. Love or hate it I don't care I'm not here for friends.

Now back to the regularly scheduled program. Keep posting the beautiful cars ladies!!

Christy Carlson - Papillion, NE - 2002 Subaru WRX Pikes Peak/Rally America Car [nickname:Bender]

[I have several more photos available on gotcone.com & dirtygirlsrally.com]

Its so hard to describe this car and what it means to me. I couldn't decide which car to feature, Bowser, my 2006 Subaru STI in which I won my first National Championship in SCCA Solo this year (STU-L National Champion), or Bender, my 2002 WRX Rally America Car. Since there has been so much more work poured into Bender, my bugeye, I decided to go with it.

There is truly nothing that I enjoy more than racing. The moment of perfection achieved when you find the perfect line, and the exhilaration you feel going up a mountain like Pikes Peak knowing that you are doing it in a car that you poured your own blood, sweat and tears into is amazing. Before I bought my first subaru (a 2004 WRX), I had never even done an oil change on my own vehicle. But soon after I joined SCCA (hooray Subaru for the free 1-yr membership to SCCA!), was hooked on autocross, and have been searching for the perfect racing moment ever since. Rallycross I was close to winning a National championship in 2006 (2nd Place in a 2006 Subaru STI in SA), and I've been rallycrossing on the national level since then... but it wasn't quite enough. That's when in 2008, after SCCA sent me to the Team Oneil Rally School, I decided to save everything I had, and go into Rally.

The opportunity came, I purchased Bender from James Wilson (you might know him as JamesWilson2 on Nasioc), drove it back to Nebraska from Houston right after his filming for the FORUMWARS, and this car had been an SCCA champion (2010 SCCA ProSolo National Overall Champion, STX). Everyone yelled at me when I decided on the way home I really wanted to take this car that I had fallen in love with, and Rally it! Why ruin a perfectly good STX car when I could easily take Bowser (2006 STI) and convert that? But alas, I didn't have the money to cage and risk losing my 2006 STI yet to Rally.

Izzy's Custom Cages in MO caged the car in March of this year. They did an awesome job. Fully seam-welded and a WRC-spec cage so that I can do Rally Mexico if I ever so desire in this car (which I would like to in 2012). Rally America, however, turned me down for an open license immediately after there was a fatality at Olympus (Matt Marker, RIP, you left us too soon) and the Risks of rally became a reality for me. No matter, I was determined to rally this subaru, and several friends.. Chris Gervais and Brianne Corn [my amazing teamate for DirtyGirlsRally] convinced me to do Pikes Peak instead.

It was a quick build, since I was just prepared for running it in Super Production for Rally America, it wasn't nearly equipped enough to be competitive for Pikes Peak. Sponsored by Kartboy, Vorshlag, and AST.. I had discounts and parts from these vendors and it helped immensely. Custom AST Rally Suspension air-shipped from Holland. HyperCoil Springs & Custom Camber Plates from Vorshlag [the best!], and shifter kit, bushings, and endlinks from Kartboy. 6-speed swap purchased from a 2004 STI. Borrowed Ported/Polished VF39. Perrin Fuel Rails, ebay special intercooler (no idea, but its bigger and it works!), borrowed DeatschWerks injectors, and just some cheaper Rota's because I ran out of money it was all I had. A few all-nighters and borrowed time at a friends shop with purchased time as I ran out to help with the Transmission swap, porting the turbo, and cleaning up a few things around the car. I tried to do all the work myself with my friends, but we simply ran out of time and had to pay for assistance at the end. Unfortunately, it cost me when a simple mistake was overlooked [shop had put in coolant instead of water], and coupled with the extreme stress on the engine that elevation causes, caused overheating, boiled over, head-gasket failure, and eventually I blew my engine (threw rod #3) at Devil's Playground, coming to rest at Bottomless Pit. Didn't stop me from getting the the top. It was an expensive lesson to learn, but as a driver you have to be aware of everything that goes into your car, down to every last detail. My Co-Driver Adam Kneipp and I hiked the remaining 2.5 miles to the top in our racing suits so I could greet and congratulate my teammate Brianne Corn on her win!

Now, the engine is being rebuilt by Pat Lipsinic, a good friend of mine and my co-driver for Solo in the 2006 Subaru STI, working on a hybrid 2.5 engine. EJ257 shortblock, EJ20 heads. All new forged internals. Gates Racing Timing Belts and Water Pump. And the new focus is on cooling, so 850cc injectors and a custom COBB tune is soon to come, as well as a large water tank in the back seat area so that we have enough water spray for the radiator to make it to the top.

I have now, since Pikes Peak, been approved for my open rally license, and the car is currently undergoing another quick build process to get it ready for the Open Class in Rally America. I plan to run it first at the Perryville Farm and Forest Rally in Missouri at the end of October.

Scoobies for Boobies has a special place in my heart for me. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, and underwent Chemo and Radiation 4 years ago. She is in remission. My younger sister had a lump removed, and I am currently under watch myself. With improvements in technology we can find a cure. Thanks for your consideration, I hope you like the car as much as I do.
