Just getting around to it after 5500 miles and a ton of autocross, plus a track day. Trying out Royal Purple 0W-20, same oil I used in my FRS and seemed to work out ok. This time I will be sending the RP to Blackstone for analysis after a few thousand miles though. Cooked up a howto video in case anyone is interested!

Awesome vid Just a few critiques:

1. At the 3:12 mark, you say use a 3/4***8221; but you mean a 3/8***8221;
2. I find it better to remove the oil filler cap before cracking the drain. Helps with draining. In general, always good to open the fill first to make sure you can refill it. Learned that the hard way on a rear diff change once
3. I would of showed that the washer is directional and how to place it on the bolt for the noobs
4. You should get a AST Subaru oil funnel. They thread in and are super tall. Makes it less likely to spill. Like $30 on Amazon



Again, awesome vid. How long did it take you to make and what camera did you use? I am looking to set something up in a year or so when I get into auto-x and pick up a new STI.

And yes, I always open the fill plug when doing diffs/trans as well for the same reason. Don't worry about it too much with oil, but a good habit I guess.

Oops, I missed this part. It always takes longer to do the actual job when I am filming it, plus the editing...there is probably a couple hours of film/editing on top of the actual work.

I use a Canon 70D for most of my non-action filming. Otherwise, GoPro Hero 4 black editions.
