You guys are getting soft in your old age. I still lift or lower nearly every vehicle I own and have never had issues with lowering springs. My last Nissan Altima received H&R springs and they were just fine. Typically, the ****ty ride comes from not trimming the bump stops. I did have that issue in the rear on my '07 Accord with coilovers.

I mean... if you weigh maybe a buck 50 and carry nothing else in your car then possibly putting aftermarket lowering springs on your stock struts is relatively okay? If you are indeed in Kentucky then it's pretty much a different story for you than for a lot of other places I've traveled. Kentucky is really nice with flat, even ground.

Adding lowering springs to stock struts lessens your suspension travel, making your car reach the limit of its suspension travel much quicker/more often. This is why aftermarket struts or coilovers are preferred.

I had aftermarket strut/spring combos for my Forester and BRZ and currently have coilovers on my Impreza. I liked the stock suspension on my 05 STI and even the stock BRZ suspension despite them being relatively harsh. Just this one time I used H&R lowering springs despite knowing the science made them bad was enough for me to deter people from them as much as possible, unless you're just traveling down the street for swisher sweets and want the look to accommodate.

Although I have no personal experience with H&R; I lower vehicles too; I haven't lifted a vehicle in years though, as I don't go off pavement anymore.

It's impossible to make a cut and dry statement about lowering vehicles though. It's true you can go too low, but you can also mismatch springs and dampers which will do more harm than good.
My WRX wagon benefitted from being lowered - wagon pinks and matching dampers; it was lower, but not too low, stiffer but not too stiff, and the handling was positively impacted, and with sway bars, more suited to my driving style (harder in the rear for less understeer).
The Miata has always been too softly sprung for my tastes.
The mild drop shown on the GR Yaris looks good, but I'd have to give it the daily driver/beat it on the backroads test before I decide it works.
I would not lower My IS350 however; it has front clearance issues already, it could benefit from a slightly stiffer setup, bigger sway bars & stiffer bushings; there is way too much compliance designed into the suspension, I can feel the toe change in the front under hard cornering; the chassis is great though.
Not enough suspension travel and you can lose contact at one or more tires, too much suspension travel and you can't change direction quickly without upsetting the chassis and you can lose contact at one or more tires.

But hey, if someone thinks cars are set up with the best possible handling suspension and tires from the factory, it's not worth arguing with them.

Yeah that **** is atrocious. I also hate all the exposed rivets or fasteners in these tacked on wide body setups. This car deserves a proper WRC looking setup.

What is funny is reading the articles on the Corolla, how it's an "apology" to us in the USDM for not bringing the GR4. I got news for Toyota, F your apology. I'm not buying a stupid Corolla. The Yaris GR4 is the most exciting affordable car I've ever seen and I will take nothing less. Man they f'd this deal up in the US about like they f'd up the Supra. Bring the real thing or bring nothing. Idiots.

Skip to 8:19 and it confirms my guess at how high the seating is for the driver. Continue watching and you'll soon realize the passenger seat is even higher. Worst part is, the passenger seat has no height adjustment. This is just like driving the STi, you feel you are sitting up on a couch and playing gran turismo. Just baffled since Rally Drivers sit very low to the ground.

Subaru's tie-up with Toyota will soon produce more than just a BRZ and 86, with the Japanese brand cooking up a rally-spec screamer that will sit below the WRX STI, and that will launch in September 2022, according to new Japanese reports.

Japanese media is reporting that Subaru's "Super AWD" will be a similar size to the Impreza hatch, and will be equipped with AWD, though a different system to the one used in Toyota's GR Yaris.

It is also expected to be fitted with a turbocharged 2.4-litre boxer engine, which, in WRX and STI guise, will produce anywhere from 170kW to 215kW. Initially, though, rumours had pointed to the super Subaru being a new take on the GR Yaris, and sharing that model's drivetrain.

The model is expected to be yet another partnership between the two Japanese manufacturers, though other details remain thin on the ground for now. That said, all will be revealed soon enough, with Japanese reports pointing to a September 2022 reveal for the new super Subaru.

As reported in CarsGuide last year, the "Super AWD" program that spawned the Yaris was always expected to produce a similar Subaru-badged car. The top-secret project was expected to produce a "comfortable AWD machine with a horizontally opposed engine installed vertically".

When Toyota increased its stake in Subaru, taking its ownership stake to above 20 per cent, the Japanese giant had hinted more co-developed AWD models were to come.

“We will bring together the strengths of both companies and jointly develop the most comfortable AWD model,” a press release said.
